“Bye sweetie, we’ll be back on Thursday. Calls us if you need anything!” Her mom said while she stood in the hallway, away from the door waving good bye.

She quickly ran upstairs towards her window, moved aside the many curtains that restricted the sun to light up her room, and made sure her parents car was out of sight.

When she was certain that they were not coming back she ran down stairs putting on her shoes and ran towards the back door. Their house or more their neighborhood was surrounded by woods. Whenever her parents would leave she would open the door connected to the fence and would go into the woods to her special place.

Deep in the forest was an old abandon tree house that could be no more than ten years old. She would go there and read, or just listen to the radio. Though she wasn’t supposed to have one, she found it in their attic and became her sweet escape.

After listening, and reading she decided to go back because it was getting dark and she was getting hungry. She turned off the radio and walked back peacefully. Once she was home she made herself a sandwich and went up to her room, with a song by a lady named Demi Lovato in her head.

“Putting my defenses up!! Cause I don’t want to fall in love!!” She belted out, taking advantage of being alone.

She was in the middle of the second course when she heard the doorbell ring. She looked at the clock on her wall that read 8:30 pm.

“Who would be knocking at the door at this time? Why would anybody even be knocking on this door??” she thought as she stealthy made her way down the stairs.

She peeked through the peep hole and saw a boy, waiting patiently.

“Who’s there?” she called out, still looking through the hole.

The boy quickly looked up and looked confused.

“Um, my mum wanted to know if she could borrow some sugar, for the morning?” he said questioning himself.

“Who’s your mum?” she asked.

“Um, her name’s Trisha. She lives next door to you,” he said as jf she should know.

“Wait a moment,” she said and ran to the kitchen. Grabbed a cup of sugar, and quickly ran back to the door. “Take a step back, and turn around,” she called out. The boy obliged.

She opened the door, and set the cup on the floor. He tried to take a peek at her, but she quickly said, “Don’t turn around.”

She scurried back inside and slammed the door. Again looking through the peep hole; seeing the boy grab the cup with a confused expression before walking away.

Her heart was beating really fast, that was the first time she had had any contact with another person other than her parents, yet alone one of the opposite sex! She went to her room and finished her sandwich wondering who the boy was and why her heart was still beating fast from the encounter that happened moments ago.
