Chapter 8
I'm sitting by Raven in Choir, avoiding her curious glances. Why won't she just forget about Aidan? He's not worth her time, and he has something going on with his sister...it's just bizarre. I don't know, but I hope that he's not the guy. This stranger saved Raven, so what? This person just makes my life a little harder anyway. Just as I thought, Aidan walks over to us, gives me a smile and starts to talk to Raven-who blushes at the sight of him. Pathetic.
"So, your friend Tristan seemed really anxious for me to read your song lyrics," Aidan said lightly, placing Raven's song lyrics onto her desk.
Raven peers over at me and smiles, eyes sparkling. "Yeah, he's a good friend," she replies.
"Tristan is pretty cool," he nods lightly.
"Tristan can hear you two," I chuckle. "Can you two keep it down a bit? I'm working on something."
"Sure," Aidan shrugs. "Anyways Raven, your lyrics were amazing, phenomenal even. You've felt this?"
Raven looked down at her hands, nails bitten down. "Yeah, I have actually."
"I'm sorry. Really. Life's rough, but it's the people that stay by your side through it all are what matters.
Prick.
"Your right, it is. It means a lot to hear my lyrics are good from a writer like you."
Aidan laughed, "Yeah, well my writing took a lot of work and effort."
Raven laughed with him, "Same here! You have no idea how long it took to write this. Remember Tristan?"
I jumped at the sound of my name, "Huh? Uh...yeah."
"I swear we were at my house so late I thought-"
"Raven your being loud!" I grumble, irritated.
"Gosh Tristan, what's your problem?"
I begin to gather my things, "Nothing. Absolutely nothing." The bell rings, "I'll see you later."
"Wait, Tristan," Raven said scrambling for things.
"Raven here," Aidan gave her his number. "Maybe we can write a song together sometime."
She smiled, "Sounds fun to me."
"You coming or not? I don't want to be late for class," I said.
"Alright!" She began walking beside me. "Stop."
"What?" I asked, confused.
"I said stop. Now."
I halted and she gave me a pissed off expression, "What?" I repeated.
"What's your problem? Bad day or something?"
I sighed, "Raven I'm fine. I'm just tired."
"You sure?"
"Yes Raven, I'm perfectly fine. Now get to class alright?"
"Fine," she wasn't convinced.
Raven
God, what is Tristan's problem? Jeez. I finally got to talk to Aidan and he has to act like a complete ass! Whatever, it doesn't matter. All that matters is I talked to Aidan and he actually likes my lyrics! I'm completely surprised. So utterly-
"Hey, Raven. There's someone on the phone for you," Aunt Hope said through my bedroom door. I opened the door slowly and Aunt Hope handed me the phone.
