Chapter 9
S
uddenly a feeling of dread came upon me as I walked out onto the frozen river-frozen river? No, not another dream. Chilled to the bone I wrapped my arms around me, trying to find warmth. I was in the middle of a forest, trees tall and covered with snow-the sky clouded, making it hard to see. "Raven?" The sound of my name made me turn around abruptly, thinking it was Delilah who waited for me. Aidan appeared before me, "What are you doing here?" he demanded sharply, making me cringe.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, trying to find the answer in his beautiful hazel eyes.
"You're not supposed to be here!" he seemed crazed, delusional.
"I don't know what your even talking about!" I cried with desperation. "Why can't I be here, this-this is my dream."
He ignored my comment, and grabbed me by the shoulders, "You don't understand, there's bigger things at work here," looking around startled, "Delilah is a part of something you won't understand yet."
"Help me understand, please..."
I suddenly felt cold, something was coming, "I can't help you, not now."
I was panicked, "I need to know!"
"In time."
"So, your saying he came to you in the dream and told you something was about to happen? And you...believe this dream?" Tristan broke into a hearty laughter making him sound drunk.
I glared at him, "Yes, that's what I dreamt. I believe it, my dreams are almost like messages."
"You don't understand, there's bigger things at work here," he rehearsed dramatically, teasing me.
I punched him in the arm, "Your an ass."
He wiped away a fake tear and sat next to me, "Okay, okay, but shouldn't you be talking to Arabella about this Aidan stuff?"
Anger flared up inside of me, "She's on a date."
He leaned back against the trunk of a torn down tree and sighed; the sun glared down on the tall trees above us, surrounding us with beams of light. "Never liked him."
"Yeah," I kicked some dirt. "You know what I want?"
"Um, no. What?"
"I want Delilah to be alive, my dad out of jail, my mother alive, and my life to....to make sense."
He paused, "You really cared about Delilah huh?"
"More then you could have ever comprehended." Suddenly a vibrating noise sounded in my pocket-Aunt Hope was calling. "Hey one sec," I told Tristan and answered the phone, "Hey."
"Raven, where are you?" her voice sounded panicked, frightened.
I suddenly felt cold, "With Tristan, why? What-"
"Someone-someone broke into the house. The police just called me," she had been crying, I could tell. "I was so worried about you."
"Aunt Hope I'm fine. Are you okay?" Tristan gave me the 'what the hell is happening' look, I waved it off.
"I'm fine, just was worried sick about you. Can you come home?"
