Chapter Two: A Game Of Volleyball

I sat up in bed, squinting my eyes as they adjusted to the light streaming in my window. The hangover i was suffering right now wasn't as bad as usual, but the loud drumming coming from outside was making it worse. I peered through my window and groaned. Of course. Jasslyn was playing the drums. The she-devil herself suddenly stood up and opened her window.

"How's that hangover of yours?" She shouted to me. I flipped her the bird and she laughed.

"Never in my life have i ever suffered from a hangover." I didn't reply her, but she knew i was jealous of her.

She started playing her drums again and i groaned, covering my ears. And then the drumming stopped. I sighed in relief and settled back down in my comfortable bed. I was dozing off until i fell off the bed. I should've known, good things don't last forever. A loud horn had been sounded through my window, courtesy of the she-devil. Her laughter was loud and clear.

Come on, you can do this, Fabian. She may not be like every other girl, but she still is a girl after all. Oh God, what's happening to me? I'm talking motivational crap. I stood up from the floor and stretched.

After showering and putting on a clean set of clothes, i walked downstairs for breakfast. Alden was at the counter eating a bowl of cereal.

"You up for a game of volleyball?"

I jumped up in the air and my muscles rippled as i slammed the volleyball down. The crowd cheered and i smirked. The game was an easy win. The opposing team, they weren't a challenge.

The crowd that had gathered around us consisted of girls in bikinis, volleyball enthusiasts, most of whom were guys, and most importantly, my clique. ALH's cheerleading squad, basketball team, the sluts, the jocks, the popular kids. My kind. A few of my team mates gave me congratulatory slaps on my back.

Like déjà vu all over again, I saw a flash of auburn hair somewhere in the crowd. For once, I was greatful of the she-devil's presence. I could show off and impress her. Then again, something told me she wasn't easily impressed. It was worth a shot anyway. If I didn't get her, I'd probably get some hot chick watching my victorious game.

"Dude! Get your head in the game, bro!" Alden shouted in my ear.

I laughed and snatched the ball out of his hands. "I'm ready," I said, my jaw set. Alden grinned as the game started.

"Dude, please tell me your secret!" Alden begged.

I had been slouching on the sofa when Alden came over and got down on his knees in front of me.

"What?" I asked, sitting up.

"Dude, you're like awesome in basketball, football, hockey, and now volleyball! Please let me be your apprentice!"

"What can I say? I'm an all-rounder," I smirked. Alden rolled his eyes and stood up.

"Forget it man, I give up. You're hopeless." That made me think back to what Jasslyn had said.

After that victorious game of volleyball, I flirted with a couple of chicks before heading towards Jasslyn.

Her auburn hair had been tied up into a messy bun, her Ray Bans on top of her head. She was wearing a bikini, with a baby blue translucent skirt that stopped mid-thigh. I was about to call out to her when I saw her flirting with that same random guy she was chatting with last night. Hopefully he doesn't ruin my plans.

I slung an arm around her shoulders and said, "Hey Jas, how're ya doing?"

"Dude, get your arm off me. You're sweating like a pig." She pushed my arm off her shoulders and I laughed.

"C'mon, you know you want me," I wiggled my eyebrows. "Excuse me while I puke," Jasslyn said, rolling her eyes.

"Babe, you've gotta stop lying to yourself." "Please, you're the one doing the lying," she sneered, pushing me away.

"Who's that?" the random dude interrupted.

"Oh, just some random obnoxious neighbour," Jasslyn said at the same time I said, "Just the hottest dude on the planet."

"Jasper Reed. And you are?" the random dude extented his hand for a shake.

"Don't you know who I am? I'm Abraham Lincoln High's most popular sophomore and captain of the basketball team, Fabian Keats." I made no effort to shake his hand and it dropped slowly.

He remained speechless for a few seconds and I smirked. "Dude, do you boast to every single person you meet?" Jasslyn asked, astounded.

"Pretty much. Get used to it, neighbour."

"You're hopeless."

And that statement dug a deep shit hole in my ego. It was painful.

"Oh, my dear brother! I've missed you so much!" Beth squeezed my cheeks and ruffled my hair.

"Bethany! Get off me! I was forced to come pick you up because Mum and Dad were busy! Dude, why are you just standing there? Get your girlfriend off me!" I shouted to Wallace. But he just laughed and stood there watching my sister torture me. God, that guy. He was so not getting help with anything concerning my sister in the future.

"C'mon Beth. Give ya bro a break," Wallace grinned, pulling my sister off me. Okay maybe he can get some help. Some.

"So how's life? How's your studies? Get a steady girlfriend yet? How's the basketball team? How's everything at home?" Beth bombarded me with questions all in one breath. Wallace chuckled and I shot him a glare. He put his hands up in surrender, laughing softly.

"Sis, why don't we get back home first and you get some rest? Then we can catch up," I suggested.

"Okay, fine. But you'd better tell me everything."

"No problemo. And by the way, welcome back sis." A grin made its way onto my face as I hugged my sister.

Flashbacks of all our precious memories filled my mind and for a moment there I felt... I actually felt the warmth and love for my sister. Okay, seriously. What's wrong with me? I've been getting all emotional and sentimental lately.

"Hey Fabian! Let's go. What are you waiting for?" Wallace beckoned me over. I realized I had stopped walking while my brain had an internal fight. You know, me tryna accept the fact that I went all mushy just a second ago. I ran over to them and flung my arms around the both of them, a huge grin on my face.

"Let's go then."
