Chapter Twenty- New Factors
PETER'S POV
I flip anxiously through every book I can find. Every paper, every map. But nothing. There is nothing on how Neverland was created. I can hear Callie telling Henry our story. I can hear her laugh every so often as she recalls a particularly ridiculous thing I did. I did a lot of those, I still do. I can't believe she's alive. After all this time. I missed her so. And now I'm going to lose her all over again unless I can figure out this darn prophecy. I repeat it over and over again in my head.
Two in love with a kiss most pure, Two with a fear to love the other, and two in love with a curse with no cure. Must work together to save each other. This was the way that Neverland was started with the love of six of the bravest hearted. This is the way that Neverland stays if you want to be young for forever and a day
It tells me who but not how. I let out an exasperated groan and chuck the book against the side of the tent. Why is this so difficult? I hear Callie stop mid-sentence as she hears the book thud against the ground. A few moments later, her pink hair is poking through the door of my tent.
"Hey, you okay?" she asks concerned seeing the mess that surrounds me.
"I can't find anything," I say my head hung in shame. She just gives me a small smile before stepping forward and wrapping her arms around me. I bury my head in the crook of her neck, never wanting to let go.
"We're gonna figure this out," she says softly in my ear. "Together,"
"Together," I say. Then something hits me. "That's it!" I exclaim excited pulling away from her. Callie gives me a confused look. "We need to look together," I say, kissing her.
"Um, alright," she says, still not understanding, but she turns to the pile of books and starts searching. As we both look through the towering pile of books and papers, I can feel the difference from when I was looking by myself. Although now I was looking less at books and more at Callie. She's so beautiful, the same as ever. Her eyebrows wrinkle together and her nose scrunches up as she reads. It's adorable.
"You're staring at me again," she murmurs.
"Can you blame me?" I wink, and she turns away blushing.
"We're supposed to be looking," she says.
"I am looking," I tease.
"Peter," she laughs, rolling her eyes.
"What?" I chuckle. "I can't stare at the most magical thing in here?"
"You're ridiculous," she giggles, turning back to her book.
"Oh am I?" I ask, putting my book down and stepping closer to her.
"Peter," she says warningly.
"Callie," I smirk in the same tone.
"What do you want?" she asks in a lilting tone as my hands wrap around her waist. I pretend to think for a moment before kissing her.
"That," I say softly, our noses brushing.
"I think I can oblige," she laughs, kissing me this time. Just then there's a knock on the pole of the tent.
"What?" I ask annoyed.
"Sorry Pan," Felix says walking in. "But your shadow's bringing someone in,"
"Who?" I ask.
"That's the thing," He says with a grim chuckle. "It's baelfire, but he's different. He's grown up,"
"Baelfire?" Callie asks her eyes wide. "You mean Neal? Peter! That's Henry's father,"
This could ruin everything.CALLIE'S POV
This is going to mess everything up. With Neal in the mix, it adds a whole other true love pairing into the mix.
"What are you talking about Callie?" Peter asks his eyes wide.
"Baelfire is Henry's father," I say my breathing growing panicked. "You can't let him find Henry,"
"Go," Peter says. I race out of his tent and up to Henry.
"Callie what's going on?" he asks seeing the commotion all around us.
"Come on Henry," I say grabbing his hand, and leading him from camp.
"Callie, I heard something about the shadow! What's going on?" he exclaims ripping away from me.
"Henry please," I plead. He looks at me cautiously.
"Someone was coming to rescue me, weren't they," he says, his eyes narrowed. "You said you were trying to help me! Why would you take me away if they were coming to get me!" he yells.
"It's a delicate situation!" I say exasperated.
"It can't be that delicate!"
"If we don't do this the right way Henry, someone will die," I say forcefully. "Whether it's you or Peter or me or someone in your family, someone will die, unless we do this right,"
He stares at me, his mouth almost to the ground.
"So will you please just come with me?" I ask softly. He nods slowly, letting me take his hand again and lead him away from the Lost Boy's camp.
"I didn't mean to scare you," I say softly. "But, we need you to cooperate Henry, for all of our sakes,"
"I understand," he says solemnly. "But, who was it?"
"Your dad," I sigh. "Which causes issues for everyone,"
"Why?" he asks.
"There's this prophecy," I say. "It involves true love, and it's complicated enough, but when you keep adding factors in, it gets worse,"
"When did you know that you were in love with Peter?" he asks. I laugh.
"Honestly? I didn't," I chuckle. "I was pretty oblivious to his feelings and mine,""Really?" he asks. "How'd you get together then?
"Honestly? It was another ball..."
