You are the pain I show in my eyes, You are responsible for the part of me that dies ~ Hidden Pain ~ GothicAngel1205 ~ Me

Jeremy Jones

"You're being ridiculous." Asher laughed as I struggled to keep up with him.

"Why? Because I don't want anything to happen to Emmery?" I asked sarcastically.

He shook his head, "No, because you're making a big deal out of nothing. You would be lucky to marry Emmery."

I stopped, shocked. "You're on dad's side with this?!"

"I didn't say that. I just said you would be lucky." He continued to walk through the trees that thickly surrounded the prison.

"Well whether I'd be lucky or not it's not right to force her to marry anybody. She's only sixteen for crying out loud." I reasoned.

"Physically yes but not mentally." He pushed through the last row of bushes to reveal the hard, stone walls. My heart started to race at the thought of facing my parents. Our mother would be ecstatic to see us - mainly Asher - again but our father, he had always been a different story...

"You feeling better now?" Asher asked as he discarded some of the freshly drained wildlife.

"Yeah. You think they know we're here?" My eyes traced the grounds, none of our father's guards were in sight.

"Probably. He can smell you a mile away." He joked.

I laughed too, "Very funny."

"Well it's easier to track a vampire than a human." He grabbed the edge of my jacket and pulled me to my feet, "Let's go." Asher moved swiftly through the trees, just like I expected him to, hardly making any sound as he disappeared through the brush.

"Asher?" I called after him but he was too far gone to hear me. "Ash-" Before I could get his full name out one of the guards came up behind me and covered my mouth with his hand. I struggled to pull his hand away as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a bullet-shaped container. I've seen my father use ones similar to it, it's hidden compartment contained a serum that temporarily paralyzes it's victim. He clicked the cap off, revealing three aciculate needles about half an inch long. "Asher!" I mumbled against his palm. He removed his hand and swiftly jerked my head back, stabbing the three needles deep into my juggler. I could feel my bloodstream quickly absorbing the poison, a metallic taste layering my tongue. "Ash -" My eye lids got heavy, I preceded to pull them open until I couldn't move at all and I needed the help of the guard to prevent myself from falling. He threw me over his shoulder and carried me in the general direction of the house. How was this happening? I came to help Emmery and now I was the one who needed it before she was walking down the isle to the tune of Here Comes the Bride.

"Where was he?!" My father's harsh tone filled the giant chamber that was considered the living room.

The guard sat me on the floor roughly, "He was just outside the east territory."

"And Asher?" There was a hint of hopefulness in his tone but not much.

"Not that I saw." The guard shuffled his feet against the ground.

"Then take him to his-"

"My baby." My mother interrupted him and ran to my side, collapsing next to me and cradled my head in her hands. "What happened to him?!" She asked as she caressed my cheek.

"Nothing Camille. Take him to his bedroom." My father ordered.

She held me closer to her, "Don't touch him!" She snapped.

My father sighed. "Camille, he has to get dressed. He's here, she's here, we might as well have the wedding."

"Look at him, does it look like he can be a groom?" She pushed the hair off my forehead, "Maybe we shouldn't go through with this William." Her voice was calm yet confident.

"What?! We've had this planned since before he was born, we can't change it now. She's already here." My father shot back.

"But he's just so young."

He huffed, "Enough of this! Isaac take him to his room!" My mother didn't object, Isaac threw me over his shoulder again, the heels of his shoes clicking against the stone floors as he walked through the halls toward my room.

Emmery Wilson

I pounded my fists against the heavy wood door, yelling and screaming as loud as I could. "Let me out of here!" All that was returned was silence. I remembered being brought in here and my dad was confronted by William then nothing else made sense. "Let me out!" I tried to open the only window in the room but it was welded shut from years of abuse. I had no way out and I wasn't even really sure where I was. Exhausted from - what seemed like hours - of pounding and banging on random walls I finally gave-up and sunk to the floor, pushing my back against a corner and pulling my legs to my chest.

The door to the small room unlocked and glided open. "Emmery?" My dad stepped in the room, and apologetic look on his face.

I crossed my arms and snubbed my nose at him, "What do you want?" I spit.

"Do NOT talk to me like that young lady! I am your father and I deserve some respect." He demanded.

"Oh you are? Since when? When you left to go hook up with your other baby's momma? Or when you chose those brats over -" His hand flew from his side and met with my cheek, caught off guard I lost my footing and fell to the stoned flooring.

He walked into the room, "Don't you EVER talk about them like that! They are more than you could ever be! Unlike you and Eli they will amount to something in life!" Was I hearing him right? Did he really hate us that much?!

"Don't talk about us like that! At least we're better than you!" I sneered.

He raised his hand and instinctively I cringed, he laughed. "Get dressed. Your wedding dress is in there." He pointed to an old wardrobe in the corner of the room.

"Wedding dress?" I questioned.

"Yes. You were betrothed to Jeremy Jones when you were little." He slumped out of the room, slamming the door as he went.

"I'M ONLY SIXTEEN! I WON'T GET MARRIED!" I screamed.

"Emmie." The whisper exploded in the room, five times louder in my ears.

"Asher?" He was half way leaning through the now open window.

"Hey babe." He smiled, the warm smile I've missed. "Well you ready to get going or not?" I shook my head and ran to him, desperate to get out.

"So how'd you end up here?" Asher ushered me through the thick bushes that clung to my pants, holding on to me as if it willed me to stay.

"My dad - um. . . Long story." I sighed, his voice replaying in my mind. They are more than you could ever be! Unlike you and Eli they will amount to something in life! Did he really mean it or was he just angry?

"This way Em." Asher called after me. I followed close behind him, not wanting to get lost. "So did you enjoy meeting my father?" He joked. I stared at him - blank faced. "Right, I'll take that as a no."

"Where's Jeremy?" I whined.

"What am I not good enough anymore?" He acted hurt.

I shook my head, "Asher it's not like that. But we're nothing anymore. Thanks for helping me but - yeah." He rolled his eyes and kept walking. "Well, where's Jeremy?"

"He's back at the house." He grabbed my wrist and pulled me through the last set of trees, leading strait into the park - finally a recognizable area. But what about Jeremy? Would he be okay?
