I asked God for a minute, He gave me a day - A day, that I am now, giving you...
Jeremy Jones
"Jeremy!" My father's words echoed in my head, my body became lighter and lighter until it just felt like I was falling. Darkness surrounded me, swallowing me. I could feel a faint presence in my head as if someone was sifting through my memories but no matter how hard I fought it wouldn't subside. A sharp pain ran down my spine but when I opened my mouth nothing came out. I fell for what seemed like hours before I landed against the hard ground. I opened my eyes to find myself staring at the ceiling of Asher's room, my father's arms wrapped tightly around my shoulders.
His chest heaved as if he was fighting back sobs, "Jeremy, please don't leave!" His forehead rested on mine, droplets of salty water spilled from his eyes and I realized this was the first time I had ever seen him cry.
I remained silent for a few more seconds, "I'm fine." My throat was scratchy as if I hadn't drank anything is years, my elongated canines were now a normal length and I wasn't recovering as fast as I should've. "Can I get something to drink?" I rubbed the collar of my neck as if it would ease the pain.
My dad looked up at Isaac and pulled him down onto his knee, "Offer yourself!" He barked. Instantly Isaac pulled back the sleeve of his shirt and held his wrist out to me. Human blood was best for injuries but it would no longer have any effect on my body. I pushed his hand away from my mouth, my dad giving me a confused look. "What's wrong? What is it?"
"I gave it up for Asher." I looked over at my brother whose chest faintly started to move again. My father was speechless for a few minutes before the realization set in - at first he was furious but as he began to think about it, the flames in his eyes dimmed.
Asher would eventually wake up, I was no longer a vampire so even if Emmery did marry me all it would be is a piece of paper since there was really nothing to 'bond us for eternity.'
"Is Ashie okay?!" Emmery jumped off the twin sized bed the moment I walked into the room, her trembling body plowing into mine and her arms holding me so tight I could barely breath. "Please tell me he's okay!" She pleaded.
My hand traced the small of her back, "He's fine."
She pushed away from me enough so she could look at me but her hands still kept the tight grip on my jacket. "Can I ask you something?"
I gave her a confused look as I consented, "Ye - Yeah anything you want."
She let her head rest on my chest, her fingernails digging deep into my sides. "Is Ashie a vampire like you?" The words spilled from her lips faster than my 'new' brain could process them.
"A what? No!" I began to laugh. "I'm not a vampire either Emmery." I quickly added.
She stepped back, "Yes you are! Don't lie to me, I saw your teeth -"
Her mouth was left gaping open, "You got sick whenever you ate normal food and - and-"
I grabbed the edge of her shoulder and gently shook it, "Breathe Em, I'm not a vampire - anymore." I admitted.
"Why didn't you just tell me?" Her crystal blue eyes peered strait through me, her eyeliner was semi smudged from her tears.
"Why does everyone say that?! It's not something you would out right blurt to someone. 'Oh, by the way my name is Jeremy and I'm a vampire.'" I bared my teeth at her, "I'm not a vampire anymore." She studied the length of my teeth, realizing that they were now all
normal. "When did you see my teeth anyway? I was so careful to hide them." My tongue traced my teeth, the odd feeling that something was missing over came me.
