Hey. Name's Jonathan. I guess I'm supposed to tell you my story now. I'm 17 , have snow white hair and dark green eyes that are the color of evergreens. I'm about 6'1'', oh, and I have a younger sister.

She's 16 and her name's Clarissa, Clary for short. She has fiery red hair and emerald green eyes. She's about 5'6'' and she is probably one of the best shadowhunters I've ever met.

Besides myself of course.

And our parents, but I don't really count them. Our father is THE Valentine Morgenstern, the BEST adult shadowhunter in all of Idris. And our mother is Jocelyn Morgenstern. She's pretty quiet and doesn't fight much, since she mostly paints. She's tried to get me into it, but I'm not much into art, unless it's painting the ground with the blood of my enemies. Clary got into art though, but she's more into sketching than painting. She often asks to sketch me, although she always throws them away without letting me see.

But Clary and I are one of the best teen shadowhunter teams. We've brought down 200 demons in the last year. The last few months though, I've noticed Clary getting a little too into the kills, a little too eager to attack. It's probably nothing though. I guess I'll just jump right in.

Today was the first day I was allowed to go back out and fight since I had broken my arm in a sparring fight with Clary, and father wouldn't let me use an iratze because we had gotten too rough. I was always rough with Clary, I didn't want her to actually get hurt in a real life situation, so I prepare her for everything.

We were leaving the Morgenstern manor to travel to New York to meet some of Clary's friends, Isabelle and Alec. They've been friends since Clary was little; Clary and Isabelle were in diapers together. Maryse and our mom are pretty good friends as well. I don't like them much, but I'm not friends with many people anyways.

As we get the portal ready, Clary grabs my hand, but I pull mine away instantly.

"What?" she asks innocently batting her eyes at me. "I just want to hold my brothers' hand."

I pretend glare at her and punch her shoulder.

"You're 16, you're perfectly capable of portal travel without holding my hand."

"Well fine," she says as she pouts and steps through the portal. I step through after her and stumble on my own feet, running into her, and she catches me while laughing.

"You can't possibly be my brother, tripping up like that. Not the Graceful Jonathan Morgenstern I know," I smile at her and push her gently away.

"Come on, we gotta meet your friends," I follow her through the twists and turns of the New York institute until we come to a black door among the other pale ones. Clary doesn't bother knocking and walks right in, leaving me standing in the hallway. I can hear their high pitched voices chatting amiably behind the door.

I turn to walk down the hall and bump into a small boy with glasses, probably around 10.

"I'm Max," he says plainly. I can see him carrying some kind of backwards book with strange drawings. "I've seen you around," he says, "Though I've never talked to you. You're Clary's brother... Jonathan. Right?"

I chuckle and laugh at his chattiness. "Ya, that's me. What's that book you're holding there?" I ask him, genuinely curious. He holds it up, surprised that I asked.

"Oh, this," he blushes. "It's a mundane book. It's. Well, it's called a manga, and it's about this guy Naruto. That's all I really know, I haven't started it yet." He lowers the book back down at his side and starts to walk down the hall past me.

"Hey, wait!" I call "Where can I find Alec?" I ask, a slight flush coming to my cheeks as I say his name.

"Uh, in the kitchen, I think," Max replies as he continues down the hall. I take a deep breath and go down the stairs towards the kitchen.

Here we go.
