When I wake up, I find myself tied to a stake in the center of a pentagram. It glows the same purple as I saw through the trees.
"Clary, what the hell is going on?" I shout into the darkness outside of the pentagram. I can't see anything beyond the lines of the symbol.
I hear Clary's laughter. Well, more like the dark laughter that I've come to associate with her.
"You needn't worry brother. Just relax and it will be much easier." This of course causes me to struggle harder. I her a shuffling from outside the symbol.
"Just shut up and quit struggling." Isabelle.
"Come on Izzy, I thought we were friends!" I exclaim, trying everything to get them to free me. Her laugh rings out like a dark broken bell.
"Of course we're friends. This is how I treat my friends."
"Glad we're not enemies," I mutter, while trying to think of a way to get free.
Out of no where, there is a loud ruckus from outside the pentagram. I can hear muffled voices and fighting going on. Then I hear both girls scream, and the fighting noises are stopped. At the same time as the girls screamed, the purple light from the pentagram vanishes.
I blink my eyes many times in an attempt to adjust to the sudden darkness of the forest. As I do this, I feel the ropes being removed from my hands. I look around trying to find something familiar. I manage to find something, or really someone, who is tying up Clary and Isabelle to a tree.
Alec.
I run over to him and fling myself in his arms.
"You saved me," I whisper, and he laughs. His laugh is so perfect.
"Ya, guess I did. I came over to see you, and you were gone. I found the portal, and the last jump was still implemented into it, so I followed it and came out here."
He sighs and wipes his face with his hand.
"I would never think Isabelle would do something like this. Clary either... but Izzy.. She was always so against demons."
I nod my head in understanding and take his hand, hoping to comfort him. Hoping he won't pull away.
"We have to tell the Clave," I state, even though I know I don't want to, so how can he?
"No," he responds simply. "That's my sister. Even if she summons demons..... she's still my sister," he whispers the last part so quietly that I almost miss it.
"Hey," I guide his face so that he's looking me in the eyes. "It'll be okay, it's my sister too. We'll figure something out."
Before I can stop myself, my lips are touching to his. Not like the heated, fast kiss from the girl in the club. This is slow and of comfort, and surprisingly, he doesn't pull away.
In fact, he leans into the kiss and wraps his arms around my neck, pulling me closer. I snake my arms around his waist and sigh against his lips in pure bliss.
Too bad our paradise would only last a few small seconds.
"Son?"
