Do you ever miss her?" I ask quietly.

"Of course not," he murmurs, but I know him well enough to know that's far from the truth.

"Do you ever wish it had turned out differently?" I press, knowing there's a chance he'll get mad at me but not really caring.

He sighs.

"I do, okay? But I love you, not her. I chose you, not her, and that was one of the best decisions I could make."

I don't press him any further.

But somehow that night when he smiles in his sleep, I know it's not because he's dreaming about me.
