Part 5: Snowflakes and Teardrops

The wind fluttered his hair and he just looked out at the town completely astonished. Drawings torn and scattered about her room and bloodstains on the curtains. A light snow had started to fall, just wnough to see her small footprints.

Levi POV:

"You two stay here just in case she comes back. I'll find her myself"

I jumped onto the staircase and ran down the steps, the metal clanked against my shoes. I raced forward if I walked to slow the snow would melt or be covered by something else.

I pushed past strangers and weaved through cars and the bustle if the city. People yelled and insulted me, but I didnt care. I didnt usually, but I was on a mission. This was important I had to find Petra. Suddenly, I jumped back, a car drove past splashing out the foot prints and I realized the trail had stopped. I looked around and I started to recgonize the buildings. Why had I been here before? I thought about the way she had headed and it finally clicked.

"Tch"

I scolded myself in my head for not figuring out sooner. Where did Petra go when she was upset? What place was most sacred to her? Where did she feel safe? I rushed across town and up the familiar hill. I weaved theough the trees, my clothes snagged on plants, but I didnt care I kept running.

"PETRA! PETRA WHERE ARE YOU?! Come back to me darling!"

I stopped yelling for her. I stopped and looked down. I stopped and my mouth hung open slightly. Suddenly I feeling of ice and numbness crashed over me. I just...stopped

Stop

I had found her, laying on the ground in a pile of snow. Snowflakes decorated her hair with a crown. Blood had hardened and dried on her face and hand. There were stains over her white nightgown and she was very pale. And she slept, laying there peacefully, looking just like a fallen angel.

I kneeled next to her and pulled her into my lap. I kissed her forehead and her tightly. She was so cold and damp.

"My angel, who did this to you? And why wasnt I there to protect you? I could have saved you, why didnt you tell me? Why did I let you go?"

With each question my chest ached and I held her closer. I squinched my eyes trying to hold back tears, but they fell down my cheeks anyway. I kissed her and stroked her cheek.

"I love you"

My voice rang out, or so it seemed, to the woods. It was the first time I had said it and she wasnt even awake. I was worried, I cared about her, I wanted her to be okay. And I felt like shit for not being there when she needed me. I rose from the ground and carried her wedding style just like I had done the first day. I carried her not noticing anything. Not the cold, not the wet, not the scratches got, not the wind, not the weight I was carrying. I walked as fast as I could with her in my arms.

"Youre going to be okay. Were going to get you all fixed up. And Im never ever going to let anything happen to you again. Youre my Autumn Breeze, my sunset, my world. And I love you so damn much"

I burst through the emergency room doors, looking disheveled amd panicked. My sweet princess weak and sleeping in my arms.

"I need a doctor stat!"
