Oak:
*he's staring at you again*
*who?*
Oak:
*don't act stupid! Lol. Wren!*
*point is?*
Oak:
*he likes you! Invite him to Emersyn's party.*
*why? So they can all make fun of him? We're lucky we even got invited."
Oak:
*I don't know why you did his essay anyway. He's an ass.**RING*
"Okay class. That's all for the day." Mr. Fletcher, the history teacher announced.
"Oakley and Lennox. Stop texting in my class before I snap both of your fancy little tablet thingys.
The class laughed and giggled at his empty threat."Sorry fletcher. Next time we'll add you to our group text." Oakley joked.
"Funny. Go home Oakley."
"What the hell is our plan for tonight?" Oakley asked as she annoyingly followed me to my locker.
"Emersyn's party?"
"I know that dip. I mean are we getting ready at my house or yours?"
"Getting ready? Oakley. I am ready. I don't have time to change and crap. Plus I'd wear something like this anyway." I unpacked my bag and repacked it with the books I'd need for my weekend homework.
"You mean in your grungy flannel that I'm not sure is a sweatshirt or your grandpa's old shirt and your ripped up jeans that were in two years ago?" Oakley mocked my attire.
"You're an ass. Matter of fact it was my grandma's and she thought that it was too sassy for her and gave it to me."
"Sassy to your grandma means teeny bopper. It should have been given to goodwill." Oakley snobbily got on her phone.
"Your house then."
She exchanged a smile.
"Invite Wren."
"I'm going home."
I slammed my locker shut and started walking out to the junior parking lot.
"Lennox! Hey! Hold up!"
Wren was chasing after me. Wren was a senior and the only sport he played was when his friend Colt was captain for basketball in pe class. He wore the same black hoodie every day and blared Eminem, and other rappers I wasn't familiar with, during study hall instead of actually studying.
"Hey.... what's up?"
"Got plans tonight?"
I was shocked at his question. The only time we ever talked was my first day my freshmen year when I ran face first into a flag pole and he rushed me to the nurse. But even then all he said was "You ok?"
"Ummm."
"I'm just asking cause I'm having this thing at my buddies house. We're just gonna be playing pool and shit. If you want to come, you can."
"I actually have this thing."
I said regretfully.
"Don't even sweat it kid. Just thought extend the invite. See ya round."
Kid? He was only a year older than me yet got away with playing it off like he was 5 years older.
"See ya."
"Emersyn!"
I spotted Emersyn standing by my jeep with Colt and their friend Hunter.
"Hey. Listen. I have an issue."
"Bad grade on the essay?"
Emersyn had jet black hair and bright blue eyes. He was tall and the typical stocky jock. All the girls at St. Joseph liked him. Which may be one of the reasons I agreed to write his essay.
"No you did awesome! You're awesome. I just had two favors to ask."
"Okay?"
"One, I'm having like 50 people come over tonight and only have enough booze for like 25. Any way you could get some from your dad's bar?"
"Emersyn. I can't do that."
"Come on! You helped me out so much with my essay just help me out one more time."
"One more? I thought there was two favors?"
"Well they count as one. Colt is really into Oakley and he needs some hard A to get the courage to talk to her. Which you're her friend and you've got access to booze."
"That's two huge favors Emersyn."
"You can be my pong partner. Come on. You know you wanna." Emersyn playfully flirted. He was so cute. I couldn't help but smile.
"I'll try, ok?" I punched his arm and walked to my jeep unlocking the door.
"Hey, thanks Len!" Emersyn winked at me as I started up the engine.
Oak:
*Come over now! I want to hear everything! I can't believe he likes me.*
* if we are really going to do this. You should come over here and get ready instead so you can help load it up*
Oak:
*on my way now! Xoxo*
*bring me something to wear........ bleh...*
