I'm going too

My hands shook in my lap.

"Where am I taking you, Lennox?"

"Take me to Oakley's. I can change there"

"I don't have time to run you there then home."

"I'm going with you, wren. You need to explain what's going on."

"No lennox. You don't need to be any part of this."

"You need my jeep to meet your brother, right?" Wren ignored me.

"Exactly. My jeep doesn't go anywhere without me. Turn left at this next light. Oakley only lives ten minutes from upstream. I'll hurry."

"Lennox, this doesn't make any sense?! You're going with him after all that? Aren't you scared?"

"Oakley, if I talk about my fear right now it'll become a reality and Wren might be in serious trouble. I need to help him!"

"You need shoes."

Oakley threw a black v-neck shirt at me and a pair of light wash jeans that were tight around my thighs.

"I forget how skinny you are sometimes."

"Shut up."

She chucked a pair of maroon combat boots at me and a green hoodie.

"Just your style."

She walked up behind me and clasped on a little gold necklace that had a wishbone at the end.

"Be safe."

"Shit, I'm going to be late." Wren threw my jeep into reverse and peeled out of Oakley's driveway.

"Explain Wren. Why is everyone calling you Samuel?"

"Samuel Keith Wrensworth is my real name but I go by Wren."

"And who were all those people?"

"Beav and Tyler are Cohen's brother and cousin. Tyler the blonde one is his brother. Carter is Cohen and Tyler's sister. I slept with her when Bret and her broke up for awhile. He started seeing caters aunt and she was upset about it. She used me as her rebound. Bret was my best friend at the time so we kept it a secret. Cohen and I got close until my cousin, Bruno saw me and Carter behind the tool shed. He knew for two weeks and didn't tell a soul until Bret confronted him. I worked for Cohen and Bret's business, growing and dealing. When Cohen found out from Bret they threatened to kill Bruno unless I worked for free. When Carter came to me 3 weeks later with a pregnancy test that read positive I had to find a real job. I told Cohen it was for medical expenses for my sister. He traded my work for Bruno. Now Bruno does their dirty work for them. Cohen found out about Carter being pregnant and he beat her in my dad's trailer one night until she lost the baby. That explains the broken window. My dad wasn't home and I played it off like it was my buddies playing a joke. Cohen made her tell Bret it was me and I got locked up in juvi for awhile. When my brother came to town he found Cohen's fiance and took her back to LA with him where he was living at the time. Now all the guys are out looking for him."

"Holy shit..." I was lost for words.

"And now they know about you."

"And Bret... he wants me,to get even?"

"Basically. All revenge will come to a truce."

"Wren....." I looked at him. His eyes met mine and I couldn't hold back the tears.

"Hey! I'm not letting anything happen to you, Lennox!"

"But if you do... Bruno is set free, right? And they'll stop looking for your brother?"

"Lennox. It's not an option."
