Chapter 7: A New Friend

I brisk-walk towards the building my classes are assigned in. Suddenly, I feel a grip on my arm. I turn to see who it is and come face to face with Myungsoo. He gives me a funny look. "What's with the sunglasses?" he asks.

"I don't want to be seen around you guys."

"Ouch. You do know we're pretty popular around here, right?"

"That's pretty self-centered for you to say."

"I didn't mean it that way."

"Whatever, I just don't want to be seen around you guys. Now, let go of my arm."

"Why don't you want to be seen around us? Answer that question and I'll let go of your arm."

I give an exasperated sigh, "Because I don't want to be known as the girl who hangs around a bunch of popular boys." Myungsoo gives me a confused look, and I continue,"I want a normal life. I don't want to become popular or famous just because people find out I'm living with you guys." Myungsoo closes his eyes for a long moment, then opens them again. He lets go of my arm and nods. "Sorry about how I acted the yesterday, by the way."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean how I kinda said mean things to you, like saying you're not my new friend. I didn't mean it."

"Are you apologizing just to save face? To regain your reputation? To stop me from telling others what you said?"

"N-no! Not at all! I just didn't like it that we came off at a rough start. I mean, you are going to live with us, so we might as well be friends than enemies right?"

I look into his eyes, searching if he really means what he says. His expressive eyes show genuine regret. Those large eyes look like a puppy's, and I can't say no to them. Screw it. I give him a smile and happily nod. "Yeah! Let's be friends from now on!" Myungsoo gives a bright smile, the first one I've seen that's not in front of food. "So, new friend, wanna go to class together?" I happily nod, "That would be lovely, new friend." Myungsoo walks in front of me, and I follow.

Thank God. I don't have anyone scowling at me all the time anymore.
