Chapter 7
Emily opened the door and I stepped in, looking around. We were standing in a wide hallway. To the right was a set of stairs leading upstairs with balcony of sorts, going across the hall. Emily led me down the hall and I glanced at the bright paintings on the walls. I stopped for a second to study an unusual painting. Emily called me from the next room.
I walked towards the sound of her voice and the hallway widened into a large room. The far wall was made up of mostly windows and to the right was a couch and chairs around a coffee table. The family room I guess. On the left Emily stood a spotless kitchen, open towards the living space. I walked over to her and sat down at one of the stools by the bar, my back to the windows. I rested my head on my arms and smiled at Emily.
“Well, make yourself at home Vanessa. You can meet Courtney tomorrow; she’s out with her boyfriend.”
I nodded and let out a yawn. “alright thanks Emily.”
She smiled and leaned against the counter. “You look tired, its been a long day for you. Im going to set you up for school tomorrow, you go to bed. Your room is upstairs to the left. It’s the door on the right..”
I smiled and got up, rubbing my eyes, “thanks Emily. Goodnight”
“goodnight Vanessa.”
I grabbed my bag and headed upstairs, into my room. I was so tired the only thing I could concentrate on was getting in a bed. I wiggled out of my jeans and launched myself under the think covers. I fell asleep instantly.

Light streamed into my room as i woke up. I rubbed my eyes and let out a groan, mornings are not my thing. I turned onto my side and buried my face into the purple duvet.
I was about to drift back into sleep when Emily decided to wake me up. She threw the curtains open and sat on the side of my bed with a mug of coffee. I immediately snatched it out of her hands and started drinking it. She raised her eyebrow, “that was mine, but you go ahead.”
I shot her a glare and continued sipping my stolen coffee. She laughed and stood up, “the bathroom's through there” she said, gesturing to a door to my left “feel free to use Courtney's shampoo and stuff, we'll go shopping tonight.”
I nodded and with one last chuckle she left the room. I quickly finished the coffee and reluctantly rolled out of bed. I stretched and looked around the room. It was pretty simple, but nicely decorated. The bed, dark hardwood floor, light Purple wallpaper, a wood dresser with a mirror above it, white curtains and various black and white framed photos on the wall.
I yawned and dragged myself into the bathroom and had a shower. When I returned to my room I sat on the bed and pulled all the clothes i had brought out of my bag. I sighed, i wish i had of known i'd be going to school. I would have packed nicer clothes. I settled on a pair of high waisted jean shorts, and a navy blue dress-shirt tucked in. I dug through my bag and found a long anchor neckless along with my makeup at the bottom. I put on a quick swipe of eyeliner and mascara and hung the neckless around my neck.
