Alana’s POV

The day I dread the most has finally arrived.

The day I meett my future husband-to-be and my in-laws all in one day, like a promo, meet the family. Judging by how Mother described them as rich, powerful and ruthless when it comes to business, I’d bet they would be some kind of arrogant rich and cocky assholes.

“Will Dad be here?” I asked Mother who was busy decorating herself.

Mother put down the mascara she was holding and faced me

“He doesn’t know about this and he doesn’t need to. You should wear the earrings I gave you” she looks at my bare ears and neck.

“You know how I feel about those horrid things Mother. They make my ears itch and necklaces make me feel like it’s choking me” I say before she can retort anything.

“I have to be in a good mood today. I don’t want to be a grumpy Grinch just because of you. Now go and make yourself useful Alana” she waves dismissively.

With pleasure I skip down the stairs almost missing the last two tiny steps and made myself look like a falling penguin, though I don’t know what they look like. I sat on our sofa and I pulled out my phone and saw 15 text messages and 30 missed calls. 42 of it were from my best friends, Renee' and Rebecca and 3 of it were from an unknown number. I sent a quick message to the unknown number asking ‘who you?’ and quickly dialled Rebecca. She quickly answered on the first ring.

“What the hell Lanes! I thought you were dead. I was totally freaking out and ready to the freaky police to your freaking big house” she screamed making me hold the phone at arm length and I still could hear her. That girl and her might lungs.

“What’s with all the ‘freaky’ word?” I asked

“Is it annoying or what?” she asked

“Nah, its okay” I lie

“You’re lying” she huffed

“Fine, it’s annoying as fuck and please don’t ever shout again” I roll my eyes.

“I knew it! I knew it was annoying! Mandy’s so not going to like this” she squealed “Renee'! Alana’s on the phone”

The sound of fading footsteps sounded through the phone. After a minute or two another pair of footsteps running echoed through.

“Hey Lana, what’s this important ‘news’ that made you miss our first shopping day?” she teased. I could already imagine her lying on the bed, legs up high and with that silly grin on her face. Unlike Rebecca, Renee' is such a people person while Becks is more like a stay-away-from-me-cause-I-don’t-know-you.

“I’m getting married” I answer waiting for her reaction. It was a deadly silent minute then she burst out laughing and I tell you Renee' and laughing should never be put in the same sentence, her laugh was like a horse being strangled (not that I’d say that to her)

“You a-are hilarious Lane. Come on what’s the news? Are you pregnant? Do you already have a boyfriend?” she rambled random questions. I almost choked on thin air when she asked the first question.

“First of I am not pregnant. To be pregnant, you need to have sex and in order to do sex you have to be married, which is what I’m doing. I’m someone’s fiancée” I hiss. The three of us vow to save our precious virginities to the man we would be bound forever. Cheesy, I know but it is the right thing to do. Our virginities should not be given to some boy whom we like, it should be given to a man who we seal our vows before the altar.

“Are you serious?” she asks.  Serious Renee' mode activated.

“Yes Renee', I am dead serious” I say exasperated.
