Chapter two

Arabella woke up with a mind spliting headache. She groaned softly and looked around, tensing when she found that she was in an unknown room. She blinked away the remaining grogginess and sat up as she looked around warily, reaching out with her senses to see if anyone was nearby. She got nothing, but a lot of the supernatural knew how to hide their presence. The thought made her even more uneasy. She searched her memories, remembering the last thing that had happened to her. She remembered talking to Lexiannah, asking the Veela Princess to kill her. Lexiannah refused and she had run to Lily Cliff. She had jumped.

Tears filled Arabella's eyes when she realized that she had been so close to freedom, only to have it taken from her. Maybe she really was that much of a disgrace. She couldn't have freedom. Wouldn't be allowed.

         "Your awake."

Arabella jumped at the voice and looked around for the source. She stared when she saw Lexiannah leaning against a wall in the shadows. Why would the Veela take her here? To torture her more?

"Where am I? Why am I here?" she demanded, her hands clenched on her lap.

Lexiannah approached her and sat on the bed next to her feet. Arabella watched her warily, unsure of what to expect. From what her sister had told her, and what she had heard from others, Lexiannah was cruel and heartless and would kill you without a second thought if you crossed her. Looking her over, the only way she would, could, describe Lexiannah was emotionless and detached. Maybe she was heartless. Maybe she was cruel. Arabella didn't know and didn't want to know.

"Your in my room, at my family's palace. I brought you here because I couldn't let you kill yourself." Lexiannah explained.

Arabella studied her. "And why not?" She didn't understand.

Lexiannah looked her over. "Do you really want to know?"

        "Yes." she hissed.

Lexiannah looked at her in shock. That hiss was pure animal. It reminded her of a tiger, or panther. Some type of cat. Looking the elf princess over again, her eyes caught sight of a bracelet on Arabella's wrist. She recognized the runes that were laced into it. They hide her true form, or something that she didn't want seen. A glamour. An extremely powerful one.

"What else are you?" she asked.

Arabella froze and looked at Lexiannah with wide eyes. "W-what?"

        "What. Are. You?"

Arabella swallowed thickly. "I'm half neko. I turn into a snow leopard." She decide to tell the truth, instead of rying to lie. Veela's were empatics, so lying would be pointless.

Lexiannah stared. She had never met a neko, or the were-cat, before.

        "You never answered my question."

        "What question?"

        "About why you saved me."

Lexiannah and Arabella stared at one another, neither looking away. It was a battle of wills, almost. Suddenly Lexiannah was pinning Arabella down, lips near her ear. Arabella gasped at the unexpected event and tried to calm her breathing, surprise flashing through her. Lexiannah whispered in her ear.

"Because you deserve to be saved."
