There’s no way it got this much hotter in the fifteen minute ride over here, I thought to myself as I jumped up to her front porch. Maybe I shouldn’t have worn the jacket? I grit my teeth, telling myself to get it together. It was just a date after all. But it was with her. I shake my head and ring the doorbell, turning my back to the door and sucking in a huge breath. C’mon Hayes, you got this.
My hands are shaking as various outcomes of the afternoon flash in front of my eyes. Maybe I over thought it, it’s just our first date. But maybe she’s expecting more? No, easy Hunter. You’ve got this. My heart stops and I reach up to grab my necklace. Phew. Can’t believe I almost forgot to put it on.
The door behind me creaks open and I spin around, planting a big smile on my face. And there she is. My breath is literally taken away. I’ve never seen anything more beautiful than her.
“Hi,” she says with a shy smile.
“Hey,” I finally manage back. “You look amazing.”
A blush rises to her cheeks which just makes her look that much more adorable. “Thank you.”
“Are you ready to go?” I ask, relaxing. She nods and I reach over to take her hand. She smiles and gives it a little squeeze as I lead her over to my truck. It’s going to be a perfect night.
