Chapter 4

The next day, David & the kids decide to leave, but Marilyn persuades them to stay another day. "C'mon! We'll go to the park today!" she cheerfully declares, twirling around in her delicate silk nightie. "The park?" David gulps. "Yeah! Don't tell me u don't know what a park is now! I'm beginning to doubt whether u really are from the future..." she jokes. "No...it's just that we're in a hurry! The kids are nearing the end o' their vacations & I've gotta get back to work. I'm shooting for a new movie." David replies. "We actors are always so busy, eh? Live a little, Dave!" she whispers into his ear, before hurrying inside to get dressed. "What's taking her so long?" Ellie asks, as they wait for her. "Obviously, putting on a ton o' make up! I'll go check!" David decides. He finds the door open & Marilyn bent over a drawer. Her blonde locks are a mess & a pile of clothes lie on the bed. "What's happened here?" David asks, sitting on the bed, next to the pile. A distraught Marilyn looks up. "I can't decide what to wear!" she sobs. "How about this?" he asks, picking up a red halter -top from the pile. "It's not enough. I want people to notice me!" she replies. "People already notice u. I mean, that's how u've reached where u are! & even if they don't notice u, I will!" David consoles her, sweetly. He pecks her on her forehead, before helping her up. "That's not all. This darn drawer's stuck!" she complains. "That's all?" David asks,pulling the sonic screwdriver outta his pocket. Marilyn looks on curiously as David sonics the drawer to open it. "U're such a sweetheart to put up with my tantrums!" she exclaims, hugging him, before pulling out a pair of denims from the drawer. Later, Marilyn, David & the kids take a long walk through the park where people throng Marilyn for autographs. Exhausted,they rest on a bench & feed the pigeons, when she spots some kids skating by. "I'm starving! Let's visit a car hop!" she exclaims. They hop into her car, a red convertible & she drives them to a diner where the waitresses skate by & serve people in their cars! They eat to their heart's content, before driving off to an amusement park. "I'm givin' y'all the authentic fifties experience!" she reveals,busily chewing on her Blackjack gum. The kids enjoy themselves on the rides, while Marilyn pulls David into a photo-booth. "Here's a souvenir!" she hands him the strip of photos. It has a handwritten inscription on it-To David,Love Marilyn! "My jaw hurts from all that gum-chewing & funny face-making! Wanna watch a movie? There's a drive-in theatre nearby." she suggests,spitting out the gum & flashing her black licorice stained teeth! David & the kids agree. Towards the end of the movie, the kids are fast asleep in the back seat. Marilyn & David lie wide awake on the hood of the car, staring at the night sky. "What a perfect day, hmmm?" David asks, wrapping his arm around her. In response, a lovestruck Marilyn locks her lips with his. "David, I..." she clasps his hand & begins to proclaim her love for him, when she spots the ring on his finger! "Maybe, I am a dumb blonde slut!" she mutters,sitting up & blaming herself for her stupidity. David sits up to console her. "No, u're not! & u've gotta stop thinking that! U are beautiful & smart & definitely not slutty,'kay!" he consoles. "I just don't understand how I end up with the wrong men everyt.." she continues to complain,but David silences her by kissing her back! "Sorry. Just thought I'd fulfil a fantasy!" he innocently apologizes. She pulls him closer & they fall back onto the hood. Her fingers automatically caress his ruffled hair,as he runs his fingers through her gorgeous locks & they kiss,passionately!
