My black dress glimmered under the many lights of the compound. It was ridiculous how dressed up I had to get for a party whose only purpose is to deceive Marcel so Klaus can gain his trust.

For some reason it was Rebekah who invited me here. After being all grumpy about me helping her and Sophie, I'd expected her to be the last person to invite me anywhere.

My curled hair fell down my back as my eyes scanned the compound for familiar faces. It was then that my attention was caught by Cami speaking to Rebekah.

She was wearing a beautiful angel dress with her hair braided into a bun while Rebekah was wearing a dark dress with feathers in her hair. Two polar opposites.

I walked over to them and Cami's eyes widened upon seeing me. "Liv, what are you doing here? Wow, you look incredible."

I smiled at her comment as I glanced down at my outift. It was more alike Rebekah's, darker and more alluring. If there was one thing I knew how to do, it was how to dress for the occassion.

This isn't my first party, but it is among the most luxorios ones I've ever been to. Marcel has a taste for the theatrics yet he makes it work.

"You weren't the only one I invited, Cami. Olivia, nice to see you made it." Rebekah said.

My eyes narrowed as I realized she was the one to invite Cami here. It didn't take me long to figure out why.

Rebekah and Cami both glanced at Marcel up on the balconies. I clenched my jaw realizing she had gone on that date that I told her not to attend.

She was officially a distraction for the Mikaelsons' devious plan. They were putting her in harm's way and there was nothing I could do to prevent it from happening.

"I would never miss out on a good party." I replied.

It wasn't long until Cami was drawn to Marcel while Rebekah had gone to the bar to drink away her sorrows. Whatever those may be.

I was going to join her, but a familiar face walking towards me made me stop.

Klaus was wearing a dark suit which only seemed fitting considering he was a creature of the night. A crooked smirk tugged at his lips as he walked up to me.

His eyes went up and down my body as I became very aware of how similarly we were dressed. Both veiled in darkness.

"And here I thought you couldn't look more stunning." He commented.

I rolled my eyes at his compliment though I couldn't deny the warmth that spread through me at his words. Too bad it was the devil himself who spoke them.

Perhaps if I were more trusting, I would've believed he meant what he said. Yet I've seen how he manipulated people into doing what he wanted.

I refuse to fall into his web of lies and smirks. "Has that line worked out in the past for you? Because I can asure you it won't work on me."

A laugh escaped his lips and my heart skipped a beat. There was something oddly soothing about his laugh. It made him sound normal and not as a diabolical hybrid.

A small smile formed on my face as I allowed myself to enjoy the moment. I've never been good with feeling safe around vampires yet in that moment I could almost relax.
