Ben was just inches-centimeters- then milliliters away from kissing Brooke right on the mouth. This wouldn't be the first time she kissed a guy though.
When Brooke was 11 she went to a party and they were playing truth or dare. She was dared to kiss this really cute guy...more like he was dared to kiss her. He kissed her then immediately after, he called his mom to take him home.
Now, she was going to have another chance to kiss a guy. She wasn't going to lie about how she felt. The butterflies were churning in her stomach.
"Hey! Love birds," Ambria's voice was loud and clear as it rang through the living room. Both Ben and Brooke looked up hurriedly. In the process they bumped their heads together causing them both a slight headache. They both groaned in unison. "Don't be mad that you guys got caught," Ambria said, oblivious to their head bump.
"Oh my gosh! We have a new house buddy. I'm so confused...where are his clothes at?" Emy said walking into the door.
"Ben, I would like you to meet my friends. Ambria-Ben; Ben-Ambria; Emy-Ben; Ben-Emy," Brooke introduced her friends to Ben.
"Nice to meet you, ladies," Ben said checking them both out. Brooke saw his reaction to her friends. It was just as she had expected: Ben would see his friends, who were amazingly sexy, and he would forget that Brooke even existed.
Ambria started, "Okay, we'll just leave and-"
"No, you guys stay. I'm feeling a bit tired and out of it anyways," Brooke got up and walked over to her room. She slammed the door: not hard enough to break it, but just enough to let them know that she was slightly angry and jealous.
Brooke sat her head on her pillow and cover her body with the covers., She really did feel tired, and she never really wanted to hangout with Ben in the first place. She wasn't going to let him control her emotions. She had a lot on her mind without him. Her father had just passed away and she was in mourning. She was vulnerable, and she wasn't sure if that was the reason she nearly kissed Ben.
Brooke heard the door open behind her, and she felt her muscles stiffen as she sat completely motionless. She felt the bed dip and she stiil sat there - motionless. "Why are you mad, Brooke?" she heard Ben's voice play in her head.
"I'm not mad. I'm just really out of it right now," Brooke said.
"Then I know how to get you into it," Ben continued," Let's play the Wii game." Brooke looked up at Ben, and she instantly regretted it because he was flashing her his amazing, boyish grin.
There was no way that she was going to do that when she was in mourning. There was no way she going to do that when she was suppose to be mad. There was no way she was going to do that after the way that Ben treated her. There was absolutely positively no way she was going to do-.

Brooke sat and watched as Ben set up the game. She couldn't deny anything he threw at her when she was drooling over his amazing toothsome grin. Because she was supposed to be furious, Brooke aggressively snatched the remote out of his hand, and she stood up with an attitude. Ben just looked at her with a raised eyebrow for a while. "What?!" Brooke asked with irritation lining her every word.
"Nothing," Ben said as he turned around to look at the TV screen. Brooke just smiled at herself on the inside, and she turned to the screen as well.
It took her a while, but Brooke eventually started to enjoy the game. They danced to the music, and Brooke laughed at how ridiculous Ben looked. She didn't feel the weight of the world on her shoulders anymore. She didn't feel like her father had recently died. She felt like she was having the time of her life. That wasn't wrong. Was it? Brooke really didn't know, but she also didn't care.
