We climbed back in the truck, shocked.

I was just sitting in the seat behind my mother. Scared about what just happened, putting my knee's to my chest and looking out the window. "We'll need to go to California" My dad said.

"Seriously?! That's eight hours away!" My Mom said.

"It's for our own good, we need to be somewhere safe"

"Wow, all of a sudden were going to another state, can we at least stop for food ? We're going to be hungry if we're going to drive for eight hour's" I said.

*Sigh* "Sure I guess" Said dad.

Driving through bland land, hoping to find a near gas station with those little stores behind them. I was looking through the window , staring at the road, watching the white lines on the road go by. And the unusual dead tree's...while the dead leaves dance then crumble. Pathetic.

We found a gas station, finaly.
My family and best friend stepped in the small store. There was nobody, it was...abanded. I walked around the store finding another person, already picking something I want.

I grabbed a pack of gum and quickly shoved it in my pocket, the aroma of it was satisfying too. If there isn't anyone to buy it from, why buy it?

My best friend found me "What are you doing? Are you ste-" I covered her mouth before she can finish "SHH shut up! Who knows if there's anyone here or not" I said. She pulled my hand off "Fine, damn, I would have joined too!Heh" I rolled my eyes and grabbed chips "We should head out"

My older sister called me to get back in the truck. "Coming!!" I yelled at her "Okay, you should get something too!!" I said to my Best friend "But ,isn't that-" "Dude, no ones here, just get anything !" "Err...okay.." She said, getting a drink and food "See! Now we should head back fast so we won't have to find out there really is someone here" I grabbed her hand and we speed walked back to the truck.

"Mom, dad, did you get anything..." I said looking at my dad "Yea, there wasn't anyone there, so we just took stuff" he said. " Great lesson to set for your children!" My older sister said.
The truck started and we started to go on our way

To California.
