CHAPTER 3

"Zakk," I practically breathed out.

"Do you still box?" He asked, looking at my arms. "Looks like you are doing pretty good."

"Who's this?" Perrie asked, walking up to Zakk and I.

"This is Zakk," I replied.

"I'm a friend of hers."

"Not really," I murmered under my breath. "What are you doing here?"

"Um Perrie right?" he asked towards the blonde. "Mind if I speak to Carter alone?"

"Not at all. We will be in the back. Meet us there." She gave my arm a squeeze, not really trust the man in front of me. I mean, I wouldn't either. I literally talked to him for ten minutes. And I was punching a bag. About to hit his face.

"Where are we going?" I asked as he pulled my arm.

"We can't speak here," he said, looking around at the many people watching the boys sing. "Just follow me."

"Zakk stop," I said pulling my arm away. "What is this about? What's going on?"

"Just..." He sighed, stepping closer, barley whispering. "You need to trust me."

"How? I barley know you," I replied with a snap.

"If you want to keep your family safe you will have to come with me," he said again, this time more sternly. So I followed. I had to. If anything happens to my family, I don't think I would be able to live with myself.

We got into the hall way of the massive house seeing that there was no one in sight. He pulled out his phone, tapping away at it. "Zakk what's going on?" He held his phone in front of my face, letting me read it.

"That man is the son of Derek. The one that was lost in the exsplosive that happened at the thrift shop. He was controling his dad to hurt you and your friends to get something from you," Zakk said as I read through the artical. "When you killed that man, it didn't stop Derek. Now that your real father is dead, it has put Derek's little plan to a stop. For now." I handed back the phone that I had read my fathers death on. "Look we can't talk here. Meet me tomorrow." He handed me a paper with an adress on it.

"Wait Zakk," I asked stopping him before he could leave. "Who are you?"

"Zakk Cage. Working of the CSS," he smiled. "I worked for you mother." He smiled, walking away with a pleased smile. So this whole time, Zakk, someone who came across cocky, worked for my mother.

I watched as he left the building, catching a cab as he left the party.

"Carter?" I heard Niall say, entering the hall. "Carter. What happened? Who was that?" I looked into the Irish blue eyes, seeing he was rather concerned and.. Jealous?

"N-nothing," I replied. "He was just a friend. He uhh.. Wanted to know how Harry was doing and I said fine and he wanted to catch up tomorrow."

"Oh," he replied as he stuck his hands in his pockets. "Well... Uh..."

"Niall? Can we go? I'm tired," I asked, walking towards the doors.

"Do you not want to say goodbye to the others?"

"We should invite them over tomorrow night for a cook out or something. Niall I'm really not feeling well."

"Yeah yeah," he replied, walking after me. He pulled my arm, swinging me towards his body. "Carter, what's wrong? What did that man say?" He leaned his forehead against mine, trying to get me to look at him.
