Diana's P.O.V
"Check if you have taken the box which has strawberry cupcakes" Mom said from the kitchen while I was sipping on my coffee." Yes, I did " I said while scanning through the transparent boxes stacked one on top of another.
" Do you want me to drop you to school today?"
" No, I am going with Cody and Caitlyn" I replied just when I heard the sound of a car honk from outside.
" Guess they're here " I said while picking up the boxes of cupcakes and heading outside. I heard the sound of someone closing the car door and soon I was relieved of the heavy weight of the boxes.
" Thanks " I said as Cody walked with the boxes towards the trunk of the car. I took the keys from his hand and helped him. He let out a deep breath and closed the trunk.
"What are those, cupcakes or stones. It's so hea-" He stopped what he was saying mid sentence as he looked at me taking in my appearance.
" You look beautiful " He said in a hushed voice as if it was for himself to process, but was quite audible.
I had put on a simple black and white floral dress which reached just above my knees along with a brown belt. I let my hair down allowing my bangs to slightly fall on my face. I wore a simple bracelet and black sandals.
" Thanks" I muttered while hiding the blush and smile on my face by looking down.
He opened the car door for me and then ran around the front of the car to the driver's side. I said 'hi' to Caitlyn who was sitting behind and soon we drove off to school.
As soon as we reached the school I could feel the fun cheerful and chaotic aura radiating from it. The school ground was filled with various food and game stalls. Students were running here and there searching for their friends. In short, there was complete mayhem.
Cody opened the trunk for me just when someone called him. He apologised a thousand times saying he felt guilty about leaving me alone to carry the boxes but the work was urgent so he left.
After being pushed three times and almost dropping the boxes I found my table. It had a basic wooden structure like a box with white cloth draped on all sides except the front from where the customers would come. The table was long and thin covering most of the entrance and was covered with a similar white cloth. There was a chair behind the counter where I placed my boxes and bags.
" Phew! I got a lot of work to do " I said while picking the bag which had all the decorations and banners in it. We still had half an hour for the fete to start and I was beyond excited.
I started off by decorating the table with colourful streamers and placed a black board that had all the cupcake flavours and their prices written on it in the front. I taped some pictures of cupcakes and a few pink, white and red balloons to the side. I then placed the transparent boxes of cupcakes on the counter and a cake holder which had each flavour of cupcake on it as sample pieces. I was extremely proud of myself as the end result was amazing. With almost seven minutes to spare, I just had to put up the main banner which displayed the name of my stall.
I placed the ladder at one end of the stall and began climbing up. Heights have been one of my fears since childhood. Taking each step cautiously, while trying my best to resist looking down, I finally reached the top and hooked one end of the banner. The other side was not too far away, or so I thought. Trying to maintain my balance I used one of my hand to hold the ladder and stretched the other so I could reach the other end and hook the banner.
" Aghh!! Cmon just a little bit more" I said and made weird noises while trying to reach out to the other end. I was just about to hook the banner when an awfully familiar voice startled me.
