I stood frozen by the doorframe in shock. They might as well have placed next to a statue, and called it a day because that's how still I was.
Second period had just started and I had just arrived from my private etiquette class, apparently we had all our own private tutors. Thirty black heads turned to look at me (almost in sync, which was slightly creepy) and almost started snickering at me. One of the more daring ones came up to me studying my feature before her face cracked into a smile (quite wicked if you ask me).
"So you're the scholarship girl I keep hearing about, what a disappointment. Don't you read Vampire Weekly? Honestly. Don't you know that the Prince prefers blacks?" her voice ringing mockingly, I barely registered it because I was to taken back by her strikingly beautiful and elegant features, but her personality wasn't as refined.
Even though I was tempted to tell her she'd mistaken me for someone who actually cares, she kept on talking. "It's too bad you can't change it now." Another wicked smirk.
"Its one of the Academy rules. The way we come in here is the way we come out." Does that include you IQ, or should I say lack of? I wanted to yell at her but refrain.
Dear lord, she keeps on talking. "... only more graceful, and muck less single. Not that that last part applies to you. You could never win over any vampire." she gives this disputed look. "... Let alone the Prince."
I look at her and laugh lightly, not a wicked one like hers but a genuinely.
I smile at her, patting her shoulder, pitying her and her lack of originality and personality. She stared at me in disbelief as if I told her her favorite pair of louboutin's were fake.
"I thought I was going to have to worry about backstabbing lying drama queens. I'm glad that we're on the same page about this whole me being single until the end of time..." I chuckle.
"... and you can keep the prince and all the other vampires to yourself. I came her here because of certain circumstances not because I am searching for a..." The word refused to come out of my mouth.
"A... husband." There. It's out. I laugh wiping a stray tear from my eye at the absurdity of it all.
The teacher comes in and starts class. After class, I rush to the give away blood station. Its time for the stupid vampire giving blood whatever thing. I wonder who I have. I go to my station and bump into him. He has blond hair that curls at the tips and green eyes that twinkle with amusement. Oh. He thinks I rush to my station to meet him. I'm so screwed... but I turn and lay on the bed and hold out my arm to the nurse. She sticks a needle into my arm and pulls away blood. I look away. I'm disgusted by it.
The guy takes it and puts the needle into and injects the blood. His eyes twinkle with lust and longing. He turns to me with lust still in his eyes and he says. "I'm James. You are?" "Crystal." I say. The last thing I wonder if I made a mistake by telling James my name before blacking out.
