Let The Spring Come

Two weeks later....

"Finally the cold is going away." Ororo said as we walk around the mansion. Sure enough, the cold is receding and the snow is melting. Only a thin layer is sticking to the tufts of green grass.

"Nothing like a nice day." I agreed as we turned left and approached the garden. The hedge gate creaked in the slight wind and the trees were dotted with small green buds of the blossoms just bursting to get a taste of the sun.

"Too bad I can't make it warmer. That would really alert a lot of people."

"No kidding." I kicked some snow on the scuff of my shoe.

"I'm glad it's April. But the first day of spring should have been March twentieth."

I nodded eyeing the greening bushes. "It's a bit late this year."

"About a month late." Ororo tightens the jacket around her shoulders.

"Hopefully it will be warming up even more. I don't know if I can take this much cold."

She laughed. "It depends on your opinion."

I shrugged.

We walked through the almost bare trees and some even had pink and white poking through. I took a deep breath in and loved the smell. It was so refreshing and clear. It was nice to have a break from the madness. Kitty (being Kitty) pestered Warren in trying to convince him that I was fine to go scouting. He argued and told Kitty she was stupid for making me do something that could possibly kill me. I broke in and told them both I would be fine. Warren ignored me and left with Kitty, both of them still arguing until they were out of earshot. So I decided to go with Ororo to walk through the garden.

"Warren and Kitty seem to be getting at opposite sides lately."

I groaned. "I know. I love both of them but seriously, it's getting on my nerves. When Warren doesn't want me to do something, Kitty says it's fine. And vice verca. It's like they're hot and cold, salt and sugar and wet and dry. They can't seem to agree on anything."

"I get both sides though Dani. Warren's trying to protect you and Kitty wants you to relax and experience things. Sometimes when opposites collide, there tends to be arguing."

"Tell me about it." I said and felt a buzz in my jacket pocket. I take out yet another new phone (I dropped it when I was on Kitty's motorcycle). This time it's a Blackberry. Warren was nice enough to buy it.

"Hello?"

"Dani!" It's Kitty. She sounds panicked.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"You have to get down to the square pronto!"

I scowl and stop in my tracks. "What is it?"

"Hurry!" She hangs up.

I roll my eyes. I wonder what it could be this time.

I give Ororo one look and she already knows what's up. I take my jacket off (I didn't want to ruin another one) and launch myself into the air. The wind is a bit chilly but I can tell it's warming up.

I flew quickly, fearing there was really something wrong. Hopefully it wouldn't be too serious. Maybe Kitty was having a wardrobe malfunction.

The city approached quickly and I spotted the park square. I flew over, eyeing the ground for Kitty's head. Even with my incredible eyesight, I can't find her. I land next to a large pine tree and dial her. People give me suspicious looks but ignore me.

"Kitty! Where are you?" I ask her as she picks up.

I can here faint giggling in the background. "I need you to walk ten steps."
