AN: this chapter continues on from the flashback of the previous chapter.

We rushed Melissa to her car. We piled in as many people as we could and then took another car for everyone else. I drove Melissa's car. She was a mess. She told me to distract her. So I did. I told her about the only thing that was on my mind.

I told her that I didn't know what we were anymore.

I told her that he wanted to meet me.

I told her that I didn't want to go, but at the same time, I really, really did.

I told her there was no going back after this.

She didn't respond when I was done telling her about it, but I could tell she was listening. She nodded while hyperventilating. My parents heard my story too. They didn't respond either, but they wanted to. I could tell. But timing wasn't awesome for their "sage words of advice" so they kept quiet.

We made it to the hospital. I looked down at my wrist: 6:27. I averted my eyes and focused on my screaming sister. My parents, of course, paid for the most luxurious room possible. After a while passed, she got the epidural and the pain for the most part went away.

But then she reached 10 centimeters....and the screaming returned. I held her hand through the whole thing. She looked up at me.

"Spencer," she said heavily breathing. "Spence you need to go. I can h-handle th-this."

"Melissa, no I couldn't"

"Spencer you'll regret it forever if you don't."

I smiled. "ok. ok I'm going!" She smiled back

"GOOD LUUCKK!" she screamed as I left. I don't know if that was intentional or not.

I hesitated to look at my watch: 6:57. "CRAP! I'm never gonna make it!!!"

I ran as fast as I could though. I took Melissa's car and headed for the hotel room where we first kissed.

By the time I got there, I was too scared to look at the time. I just prayed I wasn't too late.

I opened the door, finding it empty with a small rectangular box laying on the bed. I didn't have to open it. I knew what it was. It was my scrabble necklace that I returned one night because I was so mad at him. I took a look around. There was a bouquet of flowers in the trash. "no. no no no."

I sat on the bed. "I'm too late." I started thinking. If he could make this much of a grand gesture then why can't I? I took the flowers and quickly put on the necklace. Then I headed for his loft.

~~

I ran up the metal stairs in a very loud manner. I slowly unlocked the door. "Toby? Toby where are you?"

"Spencer! Spencer is that you??" He walked out of his room in a robe. He saw the necklace and flowers. He smiled. "you came."

"yeah I did." I said laughing. "Melissa went into labor that's why I was so late." He smiled even bigger, so relieved that I didn't forget about him.

"That doesn't matter. All that matters is you came. And your here now." He ran over, picked me up in a bridal manner and kissed me.

I laughed "I'm so glad that I did."

I heard a noise in the background. He put me down. "Toby is someone in there?"

"No. No one."

But there was. And out walked Jenna Marshall. "Actually, there is someone in here." She said evilly.

My eyes widened. I looked back at Toby. My eyes welled up with tears. "You didn't"

"Spencer."

I gasped "You did."

I threw the flowers on the floor, ripped off my necklace and ran out.

"Spencer no wait!"

My tears filled my eyes so I could hardly see. "This isn't happening. No it can't be."

But it did. And nothing will ever change it.

AN: if anyone watches Gossip Girl, this is where I got my inspiration. Plus if you didn't get it, the "her" was Jenna. :)
