Two weeks later...
Morticia was sitting outside in the cemetery as the sun finished setting. She sighed as a chill set in the air, and she listened to the loud sounds of crickets chirping. "Wretched sounds those bugs make," someone called behind her, making her gasp as she turned to see Gomez standing behind her."You startled me, darling," she said softly, watching him as he sat down next to her.
"Sorry," Gomez chuckled, wrapping his arm around her. Morticia sighed and snuggled into his embrace, enjoying the warmth he emanated. "Are you well, Cara Bella?"
"As much as I can be," she admitted as he caressed her arm. She looked up and smiled at him. Her left arm rose and gently grazed his jaw with her nails. "I did some research on Vlad..."
"Querida," Gomez said softly. "You shouldn't be doing that. Your mental health can't take it."
"You're right, darling," she replied, resting her head on his shoulder. "I found out, though, that he lied to us. He has a considerable amount of money... his side of the family never were poor souls."
"Any idea why he attacked you?" Gomez asked after several moments, continuing to caress her arm while his other hand slid under her legs and placed her on his lap.
"Envy I suppose," she sighed, looking into his eyes. "I can't tell what is true and what is a lie."
Gomez shushed her with a finger to her lips. "Hush now, Cara Mia," he whispered, his hand going across her abdomen. "I believe there's something else on your mind," he whispered, rubbing her stomach.
She looked at him curiously. "What are you talking about?"
"While you were out here," he said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a bill. "A doctor's bill came."
"Oh, yes," Morticia said, practically flustered. "I was going to tell you... except..."
"Don't worry, darling," he whispered. "I understand. We just have one problem."
"What's that?" She asked.
"How do we break it to the rest of the family?"
Morticia smiled, and kissed him deeply. Gomez kissed her back, his arm once again going under her legs as he lifted her up. "Let's not worry about that now," Morticia whispered when they finally broke. "Let's head to bed, Bubele."
"Tish," Gomez whispered, excitement filling his voice. "Are you suggesting..."
"Oui," Morticia purred, grazing his jaw with her nails once again. "Mon Cher."
"Querida," he growled, making sure he had a good grip on his wife before taking her inside the mansion and up the stairs to their bedroom.

Vladimir walked out of a bar, slightly intoxicated and walked out into the street in the dead of night, a light fog surrounding him. His thoughts were centered on Morticia; just as they had been for the last two weeks. Occasionally, he would glimpse the seductive creature out in public, but she was never alone; always holding onto her husband's arm, and at times looking around nervously.
If she were alone, or Gomez was alone, he would've taken Morticia to be his and his alone- and possibly killed her husband in the process.
Headlights blinded him as a horn from an SUV honked; in an instant, though, he was hit, flying through the air and landing on the asphalt as the car squealed off. Bloodied and bruised, a scream as Vlad's stunned body clenched for a moment. Then he gave in to the darkness that called to him...
