The ride to the airport was silent.

The plane ride to New York was quick.

The car ride to upstate Hudson, New York was even quicker. Jessalyn felt like she was going to vomit. She could taste it on her tongue. When the taxi van turned the corner on Arthur Ave., she was gasping for air. They were in front of the house and she could hear a buzzing sound. She shook her head, but it just made her dizzy and made the sound louder; it wouldn't stop. She could barely hear Noah and Scilla yelling at her asking if she was alright.

Jessalyn couldn't answer. What freaked her out? Everything was the same. The way the house looked was still the same. The panels were bright white, and the door was a dark red. The bushes with roses that her mother took precious time planting and growing were still green and red though the February wind blew at it. When the taxi pulled up to the driveway, parking on the gravel; it felt the same. Every time a car will enter the driveway, the car will tip in the front. Making the back high like a little hill.

The tears started to fall and Jessalyn couldn't stop them. The more she blinked, the harder they fell. She remembered when Julian used to put her on his skateboard and let her slide down the driveway hill. And no matter how many times she had done it, her head would always hit the garage door. Her mother would always run outside when she heard the big bang of Jessalyn's helmet covered head hit the flimsy metal.

Her honey colored eyes filled with worry. She would scold Julian, and he would feel bad for a couple of seconds until Jessalyn would burst out laughing followed by Julian, then her mother.

"Oh god. Oh god." Jessalyn mumbled. She could hear her mother’s laughter like she was right next to her. It would start out like a giggle, then a snort, then she would end up laughing like a pig.

"You laugh like a hungry pig Ivette." Jessalyn's father would say. Her mother would glare at him, giving him the meanest look she could, but her father would just smile.

"Are you calling me a pig Nathan, a PIG!" She yelled.

"A lovely pig. You may not like your laugh, but to me sweetheart it is the cutest sound in the world. It's the sound of heaven, the angels singing!" He said grabbing Ivette by the waist and kissing her.
