Who am I?

Am I simply a girl who's imaginations too wild to know the difference between reality and fantasy? Am I someone who can get things done in both the real and supernatural world? Or am I everything but? A nobody in a world of magic and love, where dreams and nightmares of the mortals oblivious to everything around them, come to life. This isn't the story most of you are probably used to hearing.

A young girl stares out her cottage window, watching the orange and red rays, bath the forest around her cottage in a fiery blanket. The girl's mind drifts to the memories of the past. Some, painful terrors of what has happened, and what she continues to wish, was prevented. And some, neither happy nor sad, only a mix of hatred and love.

The sound of a dull thump from the other side of the room caused her to snap out of her mental trance; her head whipping around to the direction of the noise.

Bang. Bang.

The window across the room was wide open, allowing a cool, autumn breeze to drift through. Papers on a desk danced with the wind, like ghosts rising up from their graves on a full moon. The young girl crossed the room, shut the window and locked it with the twist of a knob, then started picking up the loose papers all over the room.

As I mentioned before, the world I live in is the same as the one your in right now. The only difference is that mine has more that the human race living in it. To the human eye, everything seems as normal as normal can get. But to others, it's filled with magic and madness. I know what you're about to ask. No, I am not human. I don't know what I am. Or who for that matter. All I know is that I have been chosen by fate to carry an object, more powerful that anything else in this mad world. A medallion.

I intend to answer all of your questions, but I shall do so not all at once, for there is simply too much to tell all at once, that I have no choice but to break it down. Now.... where to start?

Long ago, in a time where dragons roamed all wilds and where almost everyone, including mortals, studied magic, both light and dark. Our land, our home, was also the home to her Highness, Queen Tatiana.

The story says Queen Tatiana was the first Queen to rule our beloved land. She first came on horseback with her brother, Damian. They were both young and eager to see the world. She was different from you and I. However, the people she met, didn't see the witch within her and her brother. As the two siblings traveled through many villages across the land, Tatiana grew more and more loving to those around her. But Damian stayed to himself.

One morning, Tatiana was in the local stables prepping her horse for another long journey, when a young woman, around Tatiana's own age came up to her unexpectedly.

"Meg," Tatiana said, "have you come to see me off?" The young woman, Meg, shook her head. Her long blond hair shaking with her motion.

"Must you leave?" Her voice was small in response.

Tatiana stopped what she was doing and turned to face the desperate young girl. Immediately Tatiana felt guilty for having to leave Meg. She had no family or friends when Tatiana first arrived a the small village with her brother. After meeting Meg, Tatiana talked with her brother that night, asking if they could stay longer than usual. He agreed to stay for a month, and no longer, they couldn't stay in one place too long. It was too dangerous.

Now at the sun's highest, Tatiana and her brother Damian, were getting ready to leave, and never return.

"Meg," Tatiana began, using her softest and sweetest voice possible, "you know we have to leave." The moment brought tears to her eyes. she didn't want to leave Meg, her best friend.
