“MHM! This is good,” Jenny commented as they ate around the small fire, Zack had made.
“Thank you,” replied both boys; then they glared at another.
“BOYS! STOP!” ordered Jenny angrily.
“Zack, can you make the fire hotter? I'm cold,” shivered Dawn as she scooted closer to Dusk.
“Sure,” Zack answered as he easily made the fire burn hotter.
“I'm tired,” yawned Dusk as he stared at Jenny.
“We all are. Come here. You can lean against me,” Jenny replied sweetly.
“No, you three can use me as a pillow,” ordered Fury before he turned into a tiger. He laid down nearby them and they rested their heads in his fur.
“That is very sweet,” commented Jenny as she moved closer to Zack.
“You too Jenny. There is room for one more,” purred Fury.
“Maybe later. I need to talk to Zack,” Jenny answered as she moved farther away.
“Fine,” hissed Fury.
-------
Hours later the kids were still asleep when their camp suddenly became surrounded by fire. They slowly woke and heard angry voices. “Fury! Get over here!” snapped Zack as Jenny gathered the little ones.
“Yes?” Fury hissed as he stared at the fire.
“You take out siblings, while I stop the fie. I'll catch you in a few,” Zack ordered as he focused on the fire. He cooled it and it slowly disappeared. “Go Now!”
Fury changed into a tiger and roared, “Get on!” Jenny leaped on with the little ones and held on for life as Fury ran and ran through the trees.
Jenny looked back to see Zack erupted in flames, fighting against something; then his flames were gone. “Zack!” she screamed as tears filled her eyes. “Fury! We have to go back!”
“No. Zack said to go and he would catch up,” roared Fury as he bounded farther and farther into the forest, while carefully keeping on the trail.
“But he was captured!” yelled Jenny frantically.
“I know,” mewed Fury as he stopped. He turned to look at her as he said, “He is gone, Jenny. There will be no finding him here. He told me to go and go we shall.” He looked forward again and bounded off through the trees.
-------
A hour later Fury finally stopped. He was exhausted from carrying three people for a long time and he knew the others must sleep. He laid down and they slipped off his back. “Sleep,” he ordered as he rested his head on his paws, but Jenny sat a few feet away, looking the way they had came. “Jenny, you need to sleep,” said Fury as he watched her.
“I can't,” she sobbed as she turned back to him. She hated him. He had let her brother die.
“Please sleep,” Fury pleaded.
“Just leave me ALONE!” she snapped.
-------
The next morning Lizzie and Rudy sat with their feet in the river. Lizzie leaned back against Rudy's chest and let out a little sigh. “What is wrong now?” he asked as he fiddled with her blond hair.
