POV: Mavis
Location: SOGO HotelWalking out at night was a bad idea, but it felt so good. Steven thought that I couldn't take care of myself. I had seen it in his eyes. I wanted to prove him wrong, and so I did.
I had found a room for me to stay in this motel, and there's no way that I'll let him sleep with me.
I woke up in the morning, I found out that I had left my flash light turned on. I quickly grabbed it and then I turned the thing off. I went to a mirror, I brushed my hair with my hand and told myself, "John Celestino, I will find you."
Suddenly, I heard a knock from the door. I was a little scared at first, because no one else knew what room I was staying. I did not told Steven about it. So who else would be knocking...? So I toughened myself up, went to the door and opened. The second door just in front had a peeking hole, so I peeked.
It was Steven all along, I opened the door and asked, "Steven?"
"Hi. Good Morning." He replied with a smile.
"How'd you know that I'll be in this room?"
"Well..." He laughed. "The room number." He continued.
"Huh?" I looked at the room number and it's 301. "I don't get it, what do you mean?" I added.
He was staring at my eyes, and then he told me this, "I saw you grabbed the key, and that key belongs to a room number...301."
"Oh--so you saw me grabbing the key back at the front desk."
"Yes. Well--no. Mavis...that is not the whole point." He looked away. "The reason why I am warning you about...chasing this wanted man is--because--fuck. What if I was a different person? What if someone just decided to check who is inside of this room because the key for this room is MISSING at the front desk? See what I mean, Mavis?" He added.
"Steven, I totally appreciate how thoughtful you are to me, but--you need to get out of the way." I went inside of the room, and continued, "This is who I am and I'm going to say it once again, I can take care of myself." I shut the door at his face.
"Hey, Mavis. Wait!" He yelled. "I might have figured out the supplier's name."
I stared at the door. Wondering if he was just fooling around or not. I opened the door once again and asked, "What's the name?"
"Gerald."
"How'd you know?" I tilted my head a bit.
"Well..." He showed me a white plastic bag. "...Those canned goods that we saw on the floor belongs to this plastic...and it has a name written on it." He continued.
"Well, that might be someone else. There is also a Quarantine Zone half a mile from here. Not sure if it is C or D."
"It's Quarantine Zone C...Mavis." He said. "That quarantine zone had been nuked two years ago. Remember?" He added.
"Oh. W--what happened?"
"You don't remember? I told you about that two years ago, anyway, so the infection had spread, their leader got bitten, he committed suicide, everyone there was being infected, and then they had no option but to kill all of the infected, including the survivors trapped there, by detonating the bombs hidden in their camp."
I gasped, "God--so meaning to say...we also have hidden bombs inside of our zone?!"
"I don't know. Maybe. You know what, I don't think the military wanted us to know about that. It would cause a panic. So...I think you and I and some survivors from Quarantine Zone C only have an idea that the military have hidden bombs inside their camps.
