"The what now?" Rella looked up from the jar filled with some medical something or other that she was labeling. "seeing-through-each-other's-eyes thing? I have no idea what you're talking about." We were in Rella's cave. It was fairly sizable, with shelves carved into the walls, all of which held jars similar to the one Rella held.
"You know," Caelea attempted to explain. "where bondmates can see through each other's eyes?"
Rella shook her head. "As far as I know, that's not normal. Now it could be because Fin isn't fully a dragon, so he throws some things out of whack."
"Gee, thanks." I input before she continued.
"But, you know, dragon-to-human bonds used to be quite common in the Old Age, when dragons and humans were still allies. If memory serves, and I believe it does..." She trailed off for a moment. "Somewhere in the cave system, there was a series of chambers carved out for the human-dragon hybrids. Now, it would have been sealed off long before I was hatched, but you might be able to find some information there, if you can find the place first."
I thought for a moment. "Thanks, Rella. We'll see what we can do."

Billy's PoV
I was sitting near the creek when I first heard the shouts.
The creek is actually a pretty large river that runs through the town, but people were lazy, and just called it the creek. I was sitting on a rock, about half a mile upriver from Rarrsville. I was wondering about Thielsen. Fin, I corrected myself, as Sir Thiel disowned him.
No one has seen him since he jumped off the cliff to save the baby dragon. I still can't understand why he did that. And it's too bad I can't ask him, not only because he's hiding, but also because Sir Thiel labeled him a highly dangerous criminal to be killed on sight.
Although, when he flew back up to the cliff, he did look pretty awesome, half dragon like that.
I rubbed my face with my hand and that's when I heard it. People were shouting and yelling. I quickly bolted up and started running in the direction of the shouts.
When I got to the main square, the source of the shouting became clear. It was a mob of angry farmers. I'm not even kidding. There was a large mass of angry pitchfork-and-shovel wielding farmers. What they were shouting about took me a moment to understand.
"- whole flock of sheep missing..." One man said.
"- maimed donkey." Another was saying. "With claw marks and all burnt up..."
"What'm I s'posed to do with a bunch of mauled cows? Not one survived..."
"- remaining chickens we're gonna eat for dinner, since they're already thoroughly charred..."
Finally, Sir Aaron managed to gain the mob's attention, while standing on a crate for extra height. "Will someone please explain what's going on?!"
"There's a monster out in the fields!" One farmer yells. "It ate my entire flock of sheep!"
"It mutilated my donkey!" Another shouted.
"That's nothing! My entire herd of cows was slaughtered except for the few still near the barn! and the bodies are still out in the pasture!"
"You think you're the only one with problems?! What few of my chickens didn't get spirited away were completely burned! Not one survived!"
I ran up to Sir Aaron. "What do you think happened?"
