So then. The summary of Dragonet.

Now, before I begin, I want to address a question Wolf and I have gotten a couple of times- several people have asked if they could either write a story based off Dragon Scales, or take this plot summary, and finish DS themselves. To both of these, we answer no, please don't.

You see, even if we never finish it, Wolf and I have poured a ton of ourselves into DS. We spent hours and hours in discussion, talking about nothing but Caelea and Fin, and how they interact and what they do, we spent days discussing the plot, and figuring out all the plotholes and fixing them. We've had many arguments, back and forth and back again, about this and that and things I don't even want to remember. And eventually, we managed to write Dragon Scales.

We've put so much of ourselves into these stories.

And in a sense, Caelea and Fin are like a part of us.

So to answer the question, no, please don't rewrite this story, or "finish" it yourself. Wolf and I have both agreed that to see anyone else take Caelea and Fin, and try to make them work as we have, or even, possibly, not try at all, well... It would just be painful, almost. Seeing something we worked so hard at in someone else's hands. So please, please, don't do it.

. . .

Aaaanyway. This was supposed to be a story summary. I guess I should get on with it, huh?

So, to start where the last chapter left off, Fin would, eventually, after many return trips to the hybrids' cave, find information on their bond. Caelea and Fin would spend many days working on that.

There would likely be a number of chapters regarding a variety of Fin and Caelea shenanigans around the Dragons' home.

Meanwhile, back in Rarrsville, things would be getting worse. The villagers would be terrorized by some beast. News would come that another town nearby had been completely destroyed.

And then news would reach Caelea and Fin in the Dragons' home, that a dragon had been terrorizing villages- and not just human villages, dragon villages, too. On hearing of a destroyed village, Fin and Caelea would go to investigate.

There, amid the wreckage and dragon corpses, they would be confronted by the villain- not merely a dragon, but another hybrid. She would introduce herself as Lillith, and she would be much  more dragon than human. More a black bipedal dragon than a hybrid like Fin. And she would be strong, strong enough to take on Fin and Caelea simultaneously, then escape.

Wounded, the bondmates would return to the Dragons' island and share their discovery with Skeil.

Fin, out of loyalty to his father (despite the fact that Theil had disowned him) would want to go warn Rarrsville. But Skeil would say no, on the premise that it was too dangerous. ("Besides, Fin, what has that place ever done for you? Your own father tried to kill you, and he has killed many dragons. What good would come from you returning to him? No, better that you two remain safe here, while the older dragons take care of this threat to our kind.")

Back in Rarrsville, people begin to go missing. Some turn up again, always dead, always horribly mutilated, one of whom would be one of Billy's parents. Billy wants to investigate. But Rory would be against it. At that point, Billy would begin to realize how much of a jerk his friend was, and would ditch Rory to investigate himself.

Fin would convince Caelea that despite Skeil's order not to, they had to go warn Rarrsville anyway. Only problem: Fin was unconscious when they were brought to the Dragons' isle, and Caelea was a little too in awe of Oh! Look! More dragons! to pay attention to where they were going. So Fin and Caelea would convince Gizmo and Wisp to help them.

Eventually, they make it back to Rarrsville, and take shelter in the abandoned Dragon's Cave.

That's where Billy, hellbent on finding his parent's murderer and intent on keeping the rest of Rarrsville safe, would find them. He would be furious, and attack Fin, but, of course, Fin would win against him. Then Fin would explain what was going on, and prove it by not killing Billy. (Yay! They're friends now!)

Fin and co. would work together with Billy on a cunning plan to get Fin to Theil, so that Fin could explain. The plan would go according to plan, but Thiel wouldn't believe Fin, and would try to kill him. Fin would escape and make it back to the cave, but Thiel would follow.

On his way there, Thiel would be attacked by Lillith, and Fin and co. would swoop in just in time to save Thiel. Lillith would make some remark about "sure, you've won now, but just wait until our real plan is put into action!" and then she would escape.

They would then take Thiel back to the cave until he regained consciousness, whereupon things would be explained and he would actually listen. A few days would go by where the group would try to find her as Thiel's wounds healed, but to no avail. Lillith would remain steadfastly unfound.

Then, one day, they would hear the screaming from Rarrsville. Lillith would be attacking, ravaging the town, destroying it. Fin and co. would attack, and seem to hold her off, but then...

Then, Skiel, leading a dragon army would show up. Skiel is Lillith's bondmate, and he has been orchestrating the destruction of the kingdom of Lensia, both the humans and the dragons hidden within (though, the dragons at his back believe the destruction of the dragon towns to be at human hands.)

And now it's a full-out war, raging right in the middle of Lensia.

Caelea is wounded, badly so, and falls unconscious. Fin thinks she's dead, and is furious. He kinda loses it, and starts attacking Lillith and Skiel with a vengeance. That would have been one thing that was mentioned a couple of times while Caelea and Fin were in the library, looking though books about bonds- that when one of a bonded pair dies, the other tends to go insane- and this is what typically caused the humans to be enraged with the dragons, because of grieving bondmates insanely attacking villages.

Regardless, Fin would take on Skiel and Lillith at the same time. He would be brought down right as Caelea was regaining consciousness, and, with Wisp and Gizmo's help, she would finish the job, killing Skiel and restraining Lillith.

With Skiel dead, a change would come over Lillith. Her black scales would become more green, and she would lose much of her dragonish attributes to look more like a hybrid than a bipedal dragon. Once Fin woke up, she would explain that dark magic was used to force her into the bond. Dark magic, that is, used specifically on the continent across the eastern ocean.

The inhabitants of this continent would be dark and twisted, hellbent on taking over the world or something like that. With this clarified, the dragons and humans in Rarrsville would stop fighting, and make plans to cross the ocean and put a stop to the eastern continent's plans for world domination/destruction.

The story would end on the dragons' island. Billy's likely accidentally bonded with a dragon hatchling, and Lillith is pretty much everyone's friend now. They're getting ready to fly off to the eastern continent.

And then you would have the third and final book of the trilogy, Dragon Scales: Dragons

The third book would take place on the dark continent. Fin and co. would be up against an army of hybrids, dragons, and humans enslaved by the dragons by dark magic. How this would eventually play out, I'm not sure, as Wolf and I never got that far into planning  Dragons...

But, that's how the Dragon Scales books would have gone. I'm sorry we couldn't finish them, but thank you nonetheless for reading them, and sticking with us to the unfortunate end.
