Carl and I stayed on the roof, discussing our dreams and passions like we did before. We laid on the roof, holding each other to provide warmth for one another. I told him what I wanted to be when I grew up before the world turned to shit.

"You wanted to model?" Carl bursts into laughter as I told him my dream at only 12 years old.

"This is why I can't tell you anything!" I rolled over to face away from him. He continued to laugh at me, choking on his breath.

"No, no! I'm sorry. It's just you don't seem like the type to enjoy...beautiful things?"

"What the hell?!" I stood up and brushed off my pants. Carl grabbed my ankle but I easily kicked him off.

"Come on, El. I was joking! You're very beautiful." Carl kept reaching out for my legs but I could avoid him without any effort.

"You're a dick." I grabbed my gun and made my way towards the door. I heard Carl's footsteps come charging at me and before I knew it, he grabbed me and carried me back to the blanket.

As much as I tried, I couldn't get out of his grip. I would never admit it but he's a lot stronger than I am. I kicked him and tried to wiggle out of his arms but it was useless. I wasn't going to be let go anytime soon.

"Are you calm?" Carl hugged me tighter as I continued to ignore him. I could feel my elbows grinding into my ribcage as Carl squeezed as tight as he  possibly could.

"Oh my God, fine! I'm calm!" He smirked and dropped me.

"When do you think they'll let the new members join?" Carl looked down at the group of people.

"If your dad lets them join. We just met a group of strangers in the middle of the woods. Aren't you just a little suspicious?"

Carl shrugged and looked up at the sunset. "You can't really trust anyone nowadays."

The door to the roof swung open and someone ran over to us. I looked over to see Becca. "They're apart of the group! Rick let them join!"

I couldn't describe how surprised I was at that moment. I wanted them to join. They had a little boy with them. It would have been cruel to leave them out there to fight for themselves. Plus, they had a member of our group with them.

On the other hand, we barely knew these people. They could turn on us any second of the day. They could have another group out there, waiting to ambush us. Even though we had someone on watch every hour of the day, they could still come in.

My anxiety was all over the place. You can't trust anyone now. I can barely trust Carl as it is. I can't even trust myself, for God's sake. You never know what's going to happen next in this world. I sighed and got up to meet the new members. I had to some time or another.

I helped Carl stand to his feet and walked over to the arm. After I walked out this door, everything would change.

Okay so I know the book is getting pretty lame, but I promise that I have a plan for it. I'll probably get the big event thingy after a few more chapters, so you'll just have to be patient my loves.

I hope everyone had a safe/fantastic holiday break (if you had a break. if you didn't, I still hope you're doing okay.)
