The lunch bell rang and I rushed to class. I tried to hold back my tears but it was so hard. When I burst through the door everyone was looking at me. As I sat down at my desk, they turn there heads to follow my every move. "Why is everyone looking at me." I said to the girl sitting behind me. She let out a small laugh and a tiny smile.
"Everyone can realise you have been crying. You have red dot at your dimples. It's kinda a sign." She replied whispering because the teacher had walked in. I let out a small gasp of relief and I cooled down a bit.
"I'm Harriet."
"I'm Nicole."
"Friends."
"Friends."
We let out a small giggle at looked back at the form teacher turning around to see the noise. She looked surprised when she saw everyone in order. No one was passing notes, pointing at her wrinkles or discussing game plans to win the next football match. She shrugged and looked back at the board. Nothing was unusual except a boy hiccuping quietly to him self.
When the lunch bell rang, Harriet and I sat down at the furthest corner of the school. It was dark and spacious with gorse making a small hedge around us. As soon as we got comfortable, we started chatting about what we want to do in the future. Then, of course, we giggled every few seconds. I think it's our thing now.
It went quiet again with silent sounds of the kicking of soccer balls and the beating of baseball. Harriet looked at me weirdly and smiled. "I haven't told anyone this before but I have a plan to escape this town to the nearby state of Illinois." Harriet spoke out of no where eyeing my in the, ummmm, eye?
She looked at me kinda nudging the lower part of my arm then she stopped. "So?" Harriet said now getting red. I didn't know what type of red she was talking about so I had to answer.
"Umm, o-o-ok." I stuttered trying to act normal but it just fell out of my mouth. She gave me a sly look and then sighed. "I know, I know, I'm crazy but it will work, I think." Harriet said now curling up into a small ball. I looked down at her and smiled.
"I'll help."
