Chapter One: At First Sight

“What’s wrong with me? Is it my looks or is it my attitudes? Oh, yeah, right, because I’m the blood sucking demon people that are afraid of. I was the vicious vampire they are all frightened of. I mean, I still am the vicious vampire. What can I say, I’m immortal”. That was the only perception of George, an ancient vampire who has been living for almost 523 years. Stuck in the same 13-year-old body, he is looking for the mysterious, uncontrollable yet the strongest creature ever existed on Earth, the half-vampire, half-human. Then, George remembers what his master had said about the half-vampire, half-human’s characteristics: “Once she turns 18, her powers would be uncontrollable, she can destroy the world. Your mission is to find her before she turns 14 years old, and find a way to calm her down in order for the world to be saved by the savaging power she is capable of. Remember, you can’t kill her, she might think to crush the world even more”. So the 24 vampires head to the nearest town and searched for the half-vampire, half-human.

When the sun sank down, the 4 13-year-old vampire hunters: Sam, Jimmy, Isabella and Monique, started to wear their suit gear to start their hunting for the savages. “All of the adults here in town are being eaten by those demons, so we’re let here, haunting those savages in the middle of the night”, Isabella said, murmuring. “The future is in our hands. So we better get going”, Jimmy told them. “Split up”, Sam said. So they did.

After a few hours, someone yelled. It was Sam! Since Monique was the closest to Sam, she finally decided to find her. While darkness haunts the night and the lights flickered in Monique’s eyes, she found Sam, lying down, cold. She was already dead. Then, there came this vampire. Monique daringly said, “Stay away from me”. But from the male vampire’s eyes, he hungered for more blood. He swiftly got to Monique’s side, smelling her scent. She was different, the vampire thought. Monique thought of smearing Sam’s blood from the mysterious vampire, so she got her handkerchief and wiped the blood from his face.

A light from afar broke the silent scene. “Who’s out there? I’m not afraid of you! Show yourself!” It was Jimmy! “Come on! There’s no time. Follow me”, Monique said to the intriguing boy she just met. There was really nothing left to do but to follow her lead. So he did.

They headed north and ran through the wild forest ahead of them. But there was no turning back, because Jimmy and Isabella were following them both! “Get on my back!”  George shouted. Monique got on his back and they both swiftly left. “Ugh, we just got bad luck! We’re so close to get that vampire”, Isabella commented.

“Where are we heading—“, the vampire said until he knew that he doesn’t know the girl’s name. “Monique, my name’s Monique”, Monique answered with a smile, then continued, “Stop right there at the door with a wooden knob”. Then, Monique pulled out the keys from her pocket and opened the door. The vampire quickly got inside. After that, Monique followed him in entering the basement. “I know it’s not much, but its home. Please, make yourself at home. Sorry, this is all my money can afford”, Monique said, feeling sorry for the guest. The vampire replied, “I think it’s great, turning your basement to a house. It’s kind of pleasing. I like your style. My name’s George. Can I at least stay until the next night comes?” Monique felt pleased that the vampire was at least friendly, but logically, she can’t explain why the vampire has a soft spot for her. She intrigued also why George had not a chance to suck blood from her and why she agreed in following her. This startled Monique. Monique then knew that the mysterious vampire, which is called George, was waiting for her reply. “Sorry, something just bothered me from answering. You can stay. Actually, you can’t leave this basement until next week. Whenever there’s a body found near the forest, they actually investigate for a week in the whole town. They might even get you and kill you with all their might. So I suggest you stay here”, Monique explained. George, who has its mystifying thought of what Monique told him, said, “First of all, what are you sorry for? I think I’m the one rude here. Second, what is that something that bothered you from replying me? You know, I might help. And third, how am I going to feed myself if I’m going to stay under this basement for a week? I might snack you”.
