Chapter 2

'Get up.' A Seizer muttered as he unlocked the cell door. 'Your trial is about to begin.' There was a soft bleep and the door slide open. I blinked at the sudden burst of light. Two pairs of large hands clamped to either sides of my arms and pulled me up roughly to a standing position. My hands were cuffed behind my back and a couple of Seizers flanked my sides, led by the head of the Seizers at the front, as we made it to the courtroom where the trial was being held.

Lynne had better not interrupt this session. She can't defend herself even if her life wasn't depending on it. Look where she got us! I swear I'm mentally slapping her in my head, somewhere...

I made a quick observe around the room as I made my way to my seat which happened to be placed right in the middle of the entire room. A bunch of people, the jury, sat at the jury box, eyeing me warily as I settled on the chair which wasn't too uncomfortable. Chains appeared by the arms and bounded me to the chair.

A middle-aged balding man with a few strands of white hair walked into the room, dressed in a silver robe which frankly made him look like a walking solar panel. He made his way to the raised desk before me and settled. The manner of conduct and respect had became a little loose after the years. There was no standing as the judge walks in or any other bull. It's what we refer to as equal standing or status. With the exception of royals.

'Settle down.' The judge said in a voice very loud and clear. The jury fell silent and I could feel all their eyes boring into me. I snorted and my eyes trailed to the Seizers standing guard by the doors with their guns trained on me. 'Miss Azelynne Lovell, is it not?' He looked down at me through his small spectacles that was perched on the bridge of his nose.

I scoffed, swinging my legs in an insouciant manner. 'Funny you should ask. You've got eyes, use it.' Thud, thud, thud, thud. I smirked as my heels kept hitting the chair, I've already received a few irritated looks from around the room. 'You, Mr Judge, on the other hand, who knows if you really are the judge. That incredibly large nose of yours covers your entire face it's impossible to look past it.' I smiled innocently and leaned back against the chair as the judge spluttered umbrageously along with the collective gasps from the jury.

The judge composed himself quickly but the red shade was still visible under his receding hairline. 'Miss Lovell,' He said in a cold steely voice. 'You are here today for the crimes which you have committed for the past three years: theft and most importantly, murder. Do you recognise this man?' It was more of a rhetorical question so I kept silent as a screen flashed before my eyes, displaying a picture of a man with spiky blonde hair and a smile which never reached cold grey eyes. Even through this picture, he had this proud look on his face which boiled my anger.

I gritted my teeth and flashed the judge a sardonic smile. I could hear Lynne's thoughts in my head, telling me to calm down and not act rashly. Quoting her thoughts, "Play nice and there might be a chance they'll let us live". Well, I think that chance flew out of the window after I had insulted the judge himself.

'At 2108 hours, a week ago, you shot a man, Mr Josh Kelson.' The judge said, glancing at the screen on his table. 'A surveillance camera shows proof of your crimes. What have you to say of this?'

'I don't know, Mr Judge.' I sighed and answered a sweet voice, feigning innocence. 'Why don't you ask the camera?'

At the very moment, the room really silent. You could've have heard a flea sneeze (Ignore me, I love to exaggerate). Everyone had their heads turned to a direction and a man announced, 'All rise for the mighty King of Galencia.' Everybody got up from their seats, except for me because I'm kinda bonded to the chair, as man with a grand air about him walked in.
