Just one night, she lost everything .
It was one o'clock. Lisa was waiting for her husband. She was very worried for her husband had never come back so late. She could not sleep. Each second was likes a thousand years. She gazed her little baby who was sleeping in the cot. A slight smile rose on her face.
There was a power failure that night. A candle on a candlestick shore brightly in the room. She glimpsed at the clock on the wall.
Suddenly, a loud sound crash pieced the silence of the night. Her heart missed a beat. It did not sound too good. She looked out through a window with the help of the moonlight. She spotted her husband's car. The car had collided with a lorry.
Her heart started to pound and her handle grew clammy. Without further consideration, she rushed out from her house towards the car. She accidentally knocked the table and the candle fell down. In her haste, she did not notice that.
She reached her husband. He was trapped in the wrecked car. His head and feet were bleeding profusely. She called out her husband's name repeatedly but he was unconscious. By then, the villagers had converged at the scene. The situation was chaotic. The lorry driver and the villagers gave a helping hand to extricate her husband from the wreckage. But they failed to do that. Her husband exhaled his last gasp of breath in the car. She cried sadly and tears flowed down her cheeks uncontrollably.
At that moment, someone cried out, " Fire! Fire! Her house was on fire! "
She turned her head and saw that the fire had spread to the bedroom. She remembered her baby.
" My baby is in the house! My baby! My baby! " She shouted frantically and ran towards her house.
She was forbidden by some villagers from barging into the burning house. The fire spread quickly and the house was engulfed in flames in a matter of minutes.
The villagers formed a bucket brigade to put out the raging fire. But their efforts were like a drop in the ocean.
She cried, screamed and struggled to free herself from the hold of the villagers. She wanted to get into the house to save her baby. She was screaming hysterically.
She then became weary and tired. She only gazed at the fire. She was crestfallen that she had lost her husband, her baby, her house and had lost everything in one night. It was indeed a terrible night for her.
