As soon as we got to the bottom steps of the deck, we realized that we didn’t ask where outside everyone was. “Let’s try… this way?” I suggested.
“Sounds like a plan,” replied Laury.
So we started walking to the left. We didn’t’ get very far – only a couple cabins or so – before I literally ran into someone who could possibly be able to tell us where to go. They came running around the corner of a cabin. The person that hit me and I both went flying and landed right on our butts.
“Oof…” was the sound I made as I hit the ground. “Oww… That hurt,” I said.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t look where I was going. It’s my fault,” he apologized, sounding like he actually meant it. Once he got up, he offered me his hand to help me up. I stared at it for a couple seconds in surprise before accepting it. Usually the boys in my school are complete assholes and never help you up after you fall, even if it was their fault. They would just laugh at you instead.
“It’s okay. By any chance, do you know where everybody is? We’re a little lost. We kind of forgot to ask our counselor,” I told him, a little embarrassed by my thoughtlessness.
“Sure, it’s no problem. I’m actually just heading there anyways.” He flashed us a perfect white smile. He was quite… good looking. Okay, I admit it, that’s a major understatement. He was hot! He had a chiseled face that was very tanned, as if he spent a lot of his time outdoors. His eyes were a piercing green. It seemed like he was looking into my very soul when he met my gaze. His midnight black hair contrasted well with his eyes. He was wearing a deep blue Abercrombie & Fitch t-shirt with blue jeans. His runners were Nike, and were also a deep blue. Wow. He must really like blue.
Once we started walking he told us his name was Tyler Jacob, but most people just call him Jake. I don’t know why his nickname is from his last name, though. I think I’m going to call him Ty instead. He also told us that he lives in a small town about two and a half hours away from camp. In return, Laury and I both gave him our names and where we’re from.
We stopped outside of what appeared to be an older version of the current lodge. “Okay, here it is,” announced Ty.
“I’ll talk to you later, okay?” I asked him.
“Definitely,” he said as he winked at me, but not in a player type of way, just more like a friendly type of way. And then he opened the doors and walked in, me and Laury following right behind him.
