A couple days had passed since my friends and I had made our Christmas wishes when I decided that I could not procrastinate my Christmas shopping any longer. I had driven straight to Union Square to do the majority of my gift searching as it was my favorite place to shop in San Francisco. I had found just about everything I needed for Haley, Madi, my parents, and my brother with the exception of a few things that I would order online or make myself.
I decided to head over to Pier 39 because I had always loved to see the huge Christmas tree all lit up at night with twinkling lights lining the roofs of the small shops, and also because I knew I could stop for some Starbucks on the way.

Two girls ran past the door, phones in hand, squealing. I shook my head. "Girls."
