It had been twenty minutes since I had started reading the file and all I had learnt so far was that the victim was put under a severe torture treatment before having his hands cut off. His blood was slowly drained from his body and, to finish him, his head was chopped off cleanly. The victim was apparently killed 4 days ago. I cringed slightly at the thought of the murderer watching the victim suffer, like a predator feeding off the pain of his prey. I took a look at the pictures of the body. It was unrecognisable! It was bruised and cut all over and without the hands and head, it looked like they were pictures taken from a horror movie.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my stomach grumbling. I grabbed my things, got up to leave but my path was blocked by a tall body. Eric. I played it cool, pretending that I had known he was here all along.
"Shall we go to lunch together?" I asked nonchalantly. "We can talk about the case." I added quickly, seeing as he wasn't answering and was looking at me like I was crazy.
"Sure." He finally answered, making his way to his own desk to grab his things before we headed out for lunch.
...
10 minutes later, we were at Subway (the restaurant this time). He opened the door before gesturing for me to enter food heaven.
"Me lady," he said in a bad British accent, bowing slightly. I chuckled.
"Thank you kind sir," I replied, executing a curtsey. He laughed, following me in.
We both ordered our food and drinks before sitting down at a table in the corner of the room. We were chatting about the case, trying to find a way of getting closer to the criminal. I was about to take a bite out of my foot long tuna melt sandwich when his phone rang. He picked it up without checking the caller ID and placed it near his ear.
"Hello, Eric speaking" he said in a neutral tone.
"Hello Boss. I wanted to talk about the bo-"answered a deep raspy voice on the other side of the phone.
"Just a second," Eric said, cutting the other man off. He got up and walked away until he was out of my hearing range.
I pondered about what had just happened. Who was the caller? Why did he call Eric 'Boss'? What were they talking about? Why couldn't I know? All the unanswered questions were making me dizzy. I hadn't noticed Eric was coming back until he slid into his chair once more.
"Sorry about that," He said apologetically.
"It's okay..." I answered half-heartedly, my mind elsewhere.
Itook a bite out of my sandwich and we finished eating in silence.

This second part isn't very long. It seems to me that it is more of a filler sooo...
Comment and whatever.
