It was a pleasant morning but Jessica found herself too nervous to enter the college premises. The small talk with her long time crush, Rushil, had driven her crazy. Rushil was her classmate since 3 years and the day she saw him for the first time, she had gone mad about him. Jessica's all the lectures in college went just by staring at him and wondering how cute he was. Noticing every small details about him was her everyday task. Her friends called her stupid for falling for him because of his 'playboy' reputation. But Jessica's feelings were unaffected by it. In her own mind she had convinced herself that his reputation was all a fake and that he had a golden heart.
She recollected the conversation with him while placing her bag on the bench,
"Save a place for me besides you from tomorrow. Will you?" He had asked her.
Never in the world had she imagined sitting beside him. They had practically never talked, except for some work, earlier and his sudden interest in her had excited her a lot. It was not that she wasn't smart or beautiful. She was pretty with a dimple on her cheeks and the glow in her eyes each time she smiled. Also she was among the smart students in class. But due to her public speaking fear, she was never able to confront anyone. Yet she was amazing the way she was.Rushil did not turn up to class that day. Disheartened Jessica walked through the busy streets of Mumbai towards the railway station. Her house was just two stations away from the college and now she din't even wish to go home. She actually felt stupid for getting fooled by him.
Next day was a Sunday, which she spent staying very gloomy. But her mood took a swing when she received a call. The number was unknown and at first she did not wish to answer it but then she imagined if it was her crazy best friend, Vedika, calling for help. Vedika had a record of turning to Jessica for help every weekends as she would be busy partying and drinking her guts out somewhere. Vedika had lost her parents 2 years back and since then she had become a spoilt brat. She stayed with her aunt who had no interest in her even if she were to be found dead one day. But yet Jessica and Vedika were the best of friends.
Just before the call was about to get disconnected Jessica answered it.
It was Rushil.
Jessica was anxious hearing Rushil's voice. A bright smile appeared on her face as he apologised to her and promised to treat her as compensation. Jessica was highly impressed.
