"D-did you j-just say that you loved me? "He asked shocked. " I took his hands in mine.

"Yes.",I stated. "Is it that hard to believe? "There was a long moment of silence. "Oh my gosh! Lady Gaga walking with a poodle! "

"Where? ",he asked snapping out of it. "You trickered me."

"It's called tricked and not trickered.",I said.

"You gotta stop correcting me.",he chuckled. "Do you hear that? "

"What? ",I asked.

"I think your phone is ringing."

I looked at the caller ID and it was my mom? I never thought I'd hear her voice again, since she just shipped my brother and I off to my aunt. I immediately answered.

Me: Hello mom?

Mom: (silence)

Me: Mom? Mom, what's wrong?

Mom: Hon, your dad...(sob)he...

Me: Dad what?

Mom: (silent sobs)

Me: Mom, your irritating me. What's going on? (Silence ) MOM!!! If you don't answer me I'm gonna-

Mom: Your dad is...dea...dead! (Crying,sobbing.) Honey please-

I hung up and slid down a wall sitting against it. "Who was it? ",Jake asked.

I got up and started running. Jake grabbed my arm. "Unleash me. ",I threatened.

"Or what? ",he smirked. Tears formed in my eyes. His grip loosened. "Leave me."

"Nicole, look at me.",he demanded. "What's wrong? What happened? "

"Leave me alone! You're all dead to me. I wish you all would let me die in a cave!!",I said sprinting away. He surprisingly didn't chase me. Ha, I guess he got the message.

I was sitting my room, it was dark and my door was closed. I heard people walking outside my room. "She doesn't want see you.",she said.

"I have to see her, "Jake said. "Please, she needs to know I'm there for her."

"My brother died. He is her father. She needs me, not you, me. Her aunt. So I think you should give her some space.",aunt Marry said.

"I came as soon as I could. Where's Nicole? ",Jason asked.

I opened the door, grabbed Jason, pulled him in and locked the door. Tears threatened to leave my eyes. "Jase?"

"Sh-sh-sh, don't speak. Come here. ",he said bring me into his lap. I cried my eyes out. "It's ok. I know it hurts. "

"Jason, I loved dad b-but he never loved me back.",I cried.

"No no no, don't say that. He did love you. He loved all of us.''he said rubbing my back. "Do you know what I just realized? "

"You remember me. ",he said happily.

"I would never forget you, Jase. ",I said. "You're my brother. "

"Well two days back you didn't. "

"Oh yeah, sorry about that. Still love you though. ",I chuckled hugging him.

"Yeah whatever pipsqueak, love you too. ",he kissed me on the head. Someone knocked on the door. They didn't bother to wait, they just barged in.

"Nicole? Thank God you're okay! ",he breathed out.

"Uh...do I know you? ",I asked him.

"Of course you do. It's me, Scott.",he said. "We're best friends."

"I don't have guy friends.",I said slowly. "Jason, is he my friend? "

"Hello yeah I am! You can't do this to me, Nicole!",he said grabbing my shoulders. "Look me in the eyes, say you don't recognize me."

"Dude, you're hurting me.",I said quietly. It began to hurt more and more. "Ow! Stop it! "

Jason pushed this Scott boy away from me. "Scott, go."

"Why? I have a right to be here."he said. "If you are allowed to be here, why can't I? "

"Because I'm her brother. Now leave, Scott."Jason said.

"This isn't over."he said leaving the room.

I looked at Jason. He shrugged. I took his hand and went to aunt Mary. She shook her head and began to apologize. For what? She didn't do anything wrong!

"Listen dear,I'm so sorry. I was never a good aunt to you, I used to drink, smoke and go out. Somedays I would leave you alone at home and I'll never forgive myself for that."she sighed. I grabbed her shoulders.

"Look me in the eyes, "I said. "You were a better mother to me than my own mother." She smiled. "I'm the awful niece here, remember that first day Jase and I came here. I was like really mean to you."

"No, you were still hurt that your mother sent you away and not your sister. I understand how you felt. "

"Really? "I asked shocked.

"Yes, I was too sent to this very same house to live with our grandma. Your mom stayed with our mom and decided to adopt you because she couldn't give your dad anymore children than she already have."she explained.

"But they said I was worth a lot of money." I said.

"Yes, you are but she didn't know at the time, "she started. "People started pointing it out and your parents became what they are today."

"So I made my parents the monsters they are today? ",I asked a little offended.

"Not you, your parents."she said looking as if she was thinking long and hard.

"What do you mean? "I asked. "What did my parents do? "

"They came back and wanted to take you away but we wouldn't let them take our little girl away from us."she smiled.

"I still don't get it."I said. "How did that make them grumpy? "

"They actually kidnapped you,"she said. "They wanted to 'sell ' you online."

"What? " I asked shocked. "You gotta fucking kidding me."

"Dear, I know I should've told you sooner but I couldn't. ",she breathed. "You were my everything, I l -"

"Loved me? ",I asked. "You didn't love me enough to tell me that I was nearly shop bought."

"It's not like that, honey.",she said. "I wasn't allowed to tell you."

"So instead you lied to me...",I said. She blankly stared at me. And then...the weirdest thing ever just happened.

My mom was standing outside the window. She was just standing there, grinning all crazy like. I happily ran out to her. Just when I hugged her it felt like I was hugging the wind. I opened my eyes and she wasn't there...
