Explanation

The most important day of the people of Iliark was coronation day. The day where everyone in the whole kingdom at the age of sixteen were to be assigned their elements.
In Iliark, the elements were water, air, ice, and himon. Himon was the product of global warming, taking the place of fire (fire was voted out by the founders of Iliark around twenty hundred years prior). It was perfect and estimated to be the best discovery of all time.
After the people are assigned their elements, they are to use the powers of that element to restore the health of Earth (they were on a very small planet placed merely seven miles from the crust of Earth called Iliark where they cross a bridge to get to the ruins of Earth) for seven years. Then, at age 23, they get a year of rest before being assigned their real jobs, all of which would benefit the well-being of Earth (excluding the smartest people). Most people would be builders, while farmers are plentiful, and architects were the most valued as well as scientists. Jewelers are occasional but there are mainly only three of them on the whole planet. All of the jewels were crushed into himon dioxide.
   While Seraphine's friends were given the simple elements of ice and air, Seraphine was brought into a lab... Only to discover that she has the power of fire (they aren't given the power; they simply turn it on).
   She was dangerous.
   Seraphine was quarantined.
