"Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird.
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring."
I trailed off softly, smiling down at the tiny little bundle wrapped up safely in my arms. Tears stained my cheeks and my dark brown hair was piled in a messy bun, no make-up lined my eyes. I placed a kiss gently to the baby's forehead, the soft fuzzy hair tickling my nose.
I stood from sitting in the rocking chair, the bags from the hospital still sitting by the door. Settling the sleeping child in the crib just beside the rocking chair I leaned against the side with my chin on the arms, wariness making my eyes droop. "My sweet baby girl, mama's here. It's just me and you." I wiped the newests tears from my face and gently brushed my finger against her soft pink cheek, finally pulling away from the crib side.
"Forever and Always babe." I whispered as I turned out the lights.
