Newt's POV
I looked around, taking in my surroundings. Cold stone walls and floor with ivy all over. "Nice job, shank." Minho said to me. "What?" I asked "You've just killed yourself" he responded. I stared at him in shock. "What happened to Ben?" I eventually asked. "He got stung, middle of the day." He said. "I thought grievers only came out at night." I told him, confused. "They ALWAYS come out at night, that doesn't mean they don't come out during the day" he responded, probably thinking that I was an idiot.Click, click, click, whirrrr. Click, click, click, whirrrr.
"We need to get out of here!" Minho shouted. "What about Ben? We can't just leave him here." I said. "Hide him in the ivy, quickly." He suggested. We carried him over and pushed him under a pile of ivy, near the entrance. "Let's go, the grievers are coming." He commanded. "You think he'll be alright?" I asked. "Yes, the ivy will hide him until we get back, now hurry." He responded, losing patience. "Alright, I'm coming." I said, catching up to him.
We ran straight ahead as fast as we could, occasionally making turns. Left, left, right, left, right, right, left. Following the leader. Until the sounds started to get louder.
Click, click, click, whirrrr. Click, click, click, whirrrr. CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, WHIRRR!
"LOOK OUT!!" Minho screamed. I looked behind me, a giant pile of blubber atop metal legs, with weapons and other contraptions sticking out of its skin. It was headed straight for us. I heard Minho screaming for me and one of the walls started to move. I headed straight for it, passed through just as it shut. I heard a loud squish and the sound of metal crunching. I'd killed it... I killed a griever.
"That was one crazy stunt, shank. What were you thinking?!" Minho yelled. "I was thinking of saving our bloody behinds back there, that griever would've gotten us if I hadn't ran through there!" I shouted back. "Whatever, the doors are gonna open soon, we need to get back." So we headed out.
Once we made it back to the entrance, just before the doors were scheduled to open, we went to the pile of ivy were we hid Ben. We pulled up the ivy, and he was gone. All that was left was a shirt, drenched in blood. It had to be Ben's. "They got him. What made me think that hiding him was a good idea." Minho mumbled, just enough for me to hear. "I'm sorry Minho." I told him, even though I hadn't known Ben well. "It's alright, shank. You were just following orders." He told me.
The doors opened, I saw Chuck standing right in front. "Y/N, get over here!" He called for her. She was right by the doors, but I didn't see her until now. Had she really been waiting for me all night? She looked like she'd been crying. I ran to her as fast as I could, and I wrapped her in the tightest hug. I felt her starting to cry on my shoulder. "Don't cry Y/N, I'm right here. I won't leave you ever again." I told her. "I was so worried about you, Chuck and I waited by the doors all night. I'm so glad your okay." She responded, parting from me. I can't believe she waited all night. "It's okay now Y/N, don't cry. I knew that I had to get back to you." I told her, wiping tears from her face.
Yay, a longer chapter! (Finally) I hope you're liking it so far, I really wanted to include Newt's experience in the maze. I'll have a new chapter up soon.
