Chihiro's POV

Chihiro is very sure this time Haku will slap her or else which bad thing. She closed her eyes tightly, ready to receive it. But apparently she felt Haku's right hand was touching her neck, and raised her chin, so she looked up.

"What do you think Chihiro?" Haku asked with disbelief and sad tone. He stared sharply to Chihiro, Chihiro know though Haku tried to hide his anger, but he couldn't hide his eyes which clearly showed that he was angry at Chihiro.

Chihiro replied softly. "I want to learn to fight, to defend myself."

"I've said I would protect you right? You mustn't worry! Or you don't believe me?"

"I believe you, Haku," Chihiro answered surely. "But I don't want to be protected, I want to be able to protect you too!"

Haku's eyes blinked when Chihiro said that. Chihiro then went again. "I don't want just stay silent when you're in danger, Haku. I don't want to be weak." Chihiro said sternly to Haku who fell silent while Chihiro spoke. Chihiro no longer continues her words. She waited for Haku to reply her words.

  "I understand Chihiro, but-"

Chihiro sighed. Haku Why don't you understand? She pushed Haku's hand and she stood up. "If you still say 'but' it means that you don't understand what I mean Haku."

Chihiro quickly stepped away. She clearly upset at the moment. Quite simply, she doesn't want to be considered weak, she wants to be considered as strong as Sai or Yamato, and moreover she couldn't imagine if she could only do nothing when Haku or others in danger. She hated when she couldn't do anything to help them. Why Haku didn't understand her feelings?

When she stepped, she heard Yamato's voice, but she ignored it

  "You fool, dragon."

Haku's POV

  "You are stupid."

"You've said it more than six times Sai."

  "Yes, because you're so stupid."

  "Sai."

  "The stupid dragon!"

  "I know that!"

Haku chuckled annoyed. He ruffled his hair. He annoyed with himself, why he didn't understand what Chihiro mean? He had determined to himself that he didn't want to see Chihiro hurt, he will protect Chihiro, whatever happens, even if it takes his life.

"Your girlfriend has the same thought with you Haku. She also didn't want to see people she loved hurt because of her." Yamato who was lying in the floor plays around with a paper ball that he made earlier.

Haku turned to him. "But I've said I would protect her, and she-"

Sai throw a pencil to Haku's head. Haku murmured in pain and he looked sharply at Sai. "What!"

"You are really stupid." Sai pointed Haku with his forefinger. "Now, who was targeted by the dark witch?"

  "Chihiro. And then?"

Sai spoke impatiently to Haku. "Imagine that if you were in her position, you are chased by a crazy witch, but you can't do anything and you continue to be protected by someone else. Don't you think that other people could die because they help you? While you can't do anything to help yourself? You've got something to do with that witch, but others were affected too, because of you! How big are the burden and guilt feel will you bear if that happened, Haku??

Yamato clapped. He gave thumbs at Sai. "As expected, the playboy wolf always understand women."

Sai smiled wryly heard Yamato and he saw that Haku was thinking about those words earlier. He sat on the floor.

That's true. Why did he not think of that? If he is in that position, he couldn't bear the burden, how about Chihiro? That's what she mean... He smiled wryly to himself. Haku admit he never thought of what he would do if he became Chihiro. He sighed heavily. He apparently not understood the girl he loved.

Chihiro's POV

Chihiro saw Yamato who was sharpening the tip of a kunai. Is she just guessing whether he wanted to make stakes? Chihiro just watched every swing of Yamato's short blade. She didn't dare ask because Yamato looked so serious.

She was sitting in a large tree roots. They were in a small empty land which located behind the bathhouse. Yamato who first found this field, and he said that this field broad enough and can be used as a training ground for Chihiro.

Chihiro looked up when she heard the sound of Sai and .. Haku? Her eyes caught a glimpse of Haku who was walking along with Sai, towards Yamato. She immediately turned her gaze when Haku look in her direction. Her mood is not good because of what happened yesterday, so she doesn't talk to Haku since yesterday. She busied herself with the job or she always follow Lin, if Lin was busy, she fled into the boiler room and talk to Kamaji.

She listened to someone steps who approached her. From the shadows, she could saw that Haku who has approached her. She deliberately lowered her head and stared at the ground.

Haku crouched in front of her, and he called Chihiro slowly. "Chihiro." Chihiro sighed softly, and she reluctantly turned to Haku who was right in front of her. She waited until Haku talk to her first.

"This." Haku shows something. Chihiro's eyes narrowed to his hand. Kunai? Haku shows a kunai at Chihiro. Chihiro cocked her head. What does it mean? "You won't learn to fight, for now." Chihiro starred to Haku and she was wondering, and waiting until Haku finish her words.

"I think you're better trained to use weapons. Because, you do not have magic you will find it hard when fighting with a spirit that has magic. But if, with a weapon, you are balanced."

Chihiro asked, "So now I'm practice using the weapons?" Haku nodded affirmatively.

Chihiro tilted her head. She didn't fully understand what he meant.

"You can give me an example?"

Haku nodded and he stood up, then he positioned his hand to throw a kunai. He marked the tree near Sai as a target. He confidently throws it and it stuck in that tree, right next to Sai who was standing. Sai who was watching Yamato startled when he looked a kunai stuck in a tree beside him. He turned to Haku and yelled upset. "At least you can tell me first before you throw it dragon!"

Haku laughed and he soon apologizes to Sai. Then he turned to Chihiro and pointed that kunai. "Now you're going to practice throwing kunai, Chihiro. Like I did earlier. Once you master it, I will teach others."

Chihiro sees kunai which Haku thrown earlier. That tree is located quite far from where she stand now. And Haku could throw it, right in the middle of the tree trunk? How can he do that? Chihiro bit her lower lip. Does she able to do it? It looks easy, but that kunai is quite heavy.

Chihiro shook her head trying to remove negative thoughts. She must do it. Must. She had promised herself that she would protect herself and others. If she could do anything, how she could protect them? She inhaled deeply, then throw it away quickly. She consolidates herself.

She looked at Haku and she nodded convinced. "Come on, we begin to train."
