Harry

He had done it. The one thing his mother, sister and step father all told him not to do. Harry had missed his plane back to England. The plane that was going to take him home to his family for the most important day of the year: Thanksgiving. Well, it was the most important day of the year in Harry's mum's eyes, at least. He knew how much she loved to cook for Harry when he arrived home after months on tour, and now he would have to break the news that he had missed his plane and that the next one wouldn't allow Harry to land until 2am the next morning, LA time.

Harry wheeled his suitcase behind him as he paced back and forth in front of the gate. The gate he was supposed to walk through just minutes earlier. If only he had accepted Niall's offer of getting more security at the airport, he could have avoided the mob of fans and would be on his way to dreary England. He would be ready to be welcomed home by his mum's cooking, his sister's stories of what happened whilst he was away, and his step father's terrible jokes. But of course, Harry being Harry had to miss the flight.

He finally gave up pacing and decided to just get it over with and call his mum to inform her of the situation. Harry was preparing himself as the dial tone rang softly in his ear, but he was too stressed out to be prepared for this conversation.

"Hello dear!" His mum, Anne, spoke through the phone. "Shouldn't you be on the plane? Was it delayed?" This was going to be so much harder than Harry had anticipated. Slowly and shakily he took a deep breath in, then let it out gently, getting ready to break the news to his mum.

Ed

It was all laid out on his kitchen bench: the frozen turkey, uncooked potatoes, carrots, cranberries, raw stuffing mixture, and so much more. His family was supposed to be arriving in 3 hours, and he was more than excited to see them. Yet all Ed could think was "how am I supposed to turn all this food into something that people can actually eat without giving them food poisoning?". Ed had never been one to cook, if you couldn't tell. And yet for some unbeknown reason his mother had put complete faith in him and let him host Thanksgiving this year. To say he was freaking out was an understatement.

"Taylor?" Ed questioned casually into his phone after his best friend had finally answered his third call. "How do you cook a turkey?"

"Oh, Ed. Your mum actually left you in charge of the cooking and all?" She laughed. She had known Ed for quite some time and had experienced his unluckiness in the kitchen when he gave her food poisoning from raw chicken.

"Unfortunately," he sighed in reply. "Can you please just come over and help me?"

"I can't, I'm sorry," she replied. "I got asked to perform at a free concert and I'm backstage right now." Ed could hear the guilt in her voice and knew that if she had any way of getting there to help him, she would. However this was a situation where luck simply wasn't on Ed's side.

He walked up and down his kitchen, glancing at the bench filled with food and wondering why his mother ever let him do this in the first place. He put the oven on 240°C, believing it was the correct temperature, and shoved the turkey onto a tray and into the oven, feeling as if he could actually do this now; all by himself, with not a helping hand.
