'I've been trying to do it right. I've been living a lonely life. I've been sleeping he-.'
My phone rings. I run from the living room and into the kitchen trying to get to it before it stops ringing.
I slide the arrow, seeing it was my mom.
"Hello?"
"Hey Allie! Your brother told me you had finally found a boyfriend!" She screams into my ear with glee.
I could punch Bubba!
"Umm yeah. I sort of do." I answer with a smile.
"Well tomorrow is family game day and I thought hey! Why not meet him." She says excitedly. I kind of dont want him to meet my wreck of a family.
"Are you sure? Who all is going to be there?" I ask.
"Of course baby! And um your uncle Bobby and Aunt Ginger will be there. Your brother and his girlfriend, Savannah. Me and... Umm your grandma. And of course you and this Blake of yours. Oh! You can invite Anita too!" She is way to giddy for my liking. How was I supposed to say no to her?!
"Sure! We'll come I guess. And I'll let Anita know. I haven't seen her in a while anyways."
"Good good good! Be here at ten! Love you hun!"
"Love you too mom."
I hang up the phone and set it on one of the cardboard boxes. Blake was moving in and now I'm starting to feel the guilt for not even letting my own mother know I was engaged. I run downstairs To tell Blake, who was sitting on the couch.
"Hey. Umm I have some news."
"Good or bad?" He asks sitting up from his laying position.
"I'm not really sure how it would be to you."
"Well come on. Tell me."
"My mom just called and wanted to know if I..we.. Could go over there tomorrow for like this family day thing." I say twiddling with my fingers nervously.
"Ok. Sounds good." He says with a smile.
"Wait. You're not like scared or shocked or even disgusted?"
"Umm we're getting married Sugar. It's gonna happen at some point. A I'm pretty excited actually."
"Excited?" I say it like I didn't know what it meant.
"Yep." The echoed pop of the P floats through my ears.
"Oh wow." I sit next to him and lean my head in his shoulder .
"Umm I'm warning you now my family is a little perverted and cocky and intruding. They never give me privacy."
"Sounds like my kind of family!" I don't know if he was being sarcastic or actually telling the truth. Oh well.

I step out of Blake's truck and look at him.
"We can turn back now! It's not too late!" I say acting just plain stupid.
"Oh come on Sugar."
"Fine." I pout doing my best puppy dog face.
He knocked on my mom's door and she opened it immediately. Almost as if she was waiting for us to knock. Suspicious. My dad was on a business trip, so no one was there to keep her in line.
"Oh hey my little frog toes!" She exclaims using her cheesy names.
"And you must be the one and only Blake!" She pretty much screams and hugs him like she'a known the guy for years.
